Dan Didio has said that maybe it's time for the JSA to be put into the garage for a while. The book lasted 12 years, that's a pretty good run for Golden Age characters.

I think they should have been largely left grounded with Zero Hour. But that's just me.

Of course, pretending they never existed? Bullshit.

It won't be the end of the JSA, it's DCs first team. They'll be gone for a while, then they'll come back, like probably every other plot that's ever happened in DC, over time.

I highly doubt any of this will last more than a year or two.

It would make sense that in the DCnu, they still exist and are around, but have all retired. Then after a few months or a year, they can come back and reform with a new book at #1.

The JSA was supposed to be in forced retirement by the start of the major heroes' run, weren't they? Then, later on, they can make a comeback.

But then we would have been robbed of one of DC's best books in the last decade; JSA #1-80.

This is most likely what will happen. I think with how craptacular DC has made the JSA in the last few years, a cooling off period would probably do the team some good. It sure helped Hawkman.

It helped Hawkman for a bit but now I'm not so sure with the new "Wolverine with wings" approach in the new DCnU.

TPTB should just take the better parts from the last decade or so and spin a new origin story around them similar to the Justice League. I for one would have a few of the old guard trapped in time [including Capt. Marvel] and released from their fate in the modern DCnU. It's one way to explain why Billy Batson never quit saying "Golly" and "Holy Moley!" Take the new old guard and have them join some of the better more modern characters [Mr. Terrific, modern Hourman, maybe an old character reimagined younger like Ted Knight as Starman with a couple kids around 10-12]...

I kinda liked JSA, aside from the nonsensical crippling of Alan. It's too bad it's gone for a time. But there's a silver lining. Maybe Alan's injury will be retconned out.

I stopped reading JSA in 2008 (when I started only reading Green Lantern titles) but it was a good comic, and they shouldn't get rid of it.

I am sort of relieved that some characters I like won't have a book to start with. At least this way they are untouched by Johns and Didio's lunacy. I can't help but think that in a few years writers are going to be trying to distance themselves from all this. Now Harley is always going to have THAT time in her history where she looked like a juggalo and the Teen Titans fans are going to wince at the stupid redesign they got.

At least Power Girl and the JSA might not have to suffer that fate and might be lucky enough to be re-introduced later, hopefully if Morrison and Simone replace Didio and Johns.

I think its a crying shame that the JSA is being side-lined like this. I can see that perhaps the team has gotten too big in recent years and this is why they split it into all-stars and JSA, but to get rid of it totally is rubbish. Its a well read comic that reads well and has a large fan base. Critics also tend to like it. But then again if those ideas worked we'd also have Secret Six come september as well.......I sense that it falls victim to the 'we got too many flashes' and 'we got too many green lanterns' argument within a company ultimately seeking to push comic revenue into mainstream movie revenue (and vice-versa).

I agree the lack of a JSA book really brought me down. I've been a reader and subscriber for it's entire run so far. It's how I got my Alan fix! Now it looks like the original heroes are being left once again behind.

Actually 3 JL books, if you count Justice League Dark.

The way Justice Society is ending, seems to be set up for the new Mr. Terrific series.

Having them gone could be a good thing if properly set up with the return. Say the JL has vanished, Booster travels back to WWII convices the JSA to travel to present time, then they can't return afterward. Allies won wwII without superhuman aid, JSA is in their prime, no excuses of how the starheart's keeping a 90 year old young, etc. plus they can show how the new era changes and surprises the old timers
