Hey Dave, check this out.

ToyGuru on Swamp Thing:

"It's actually not rubber. It is an entirely new process we patented. The closest thing I can think of is the old Art Asylum Star Trek Enterprise 6" figures (but not the same). It isn't rubber like Clayface. Bill Benecke and the Horsemen really pulled off an amazing innovative toy"!

Huh, interesting......

Swamp Thing looks weird. The crotch junk sucks and the abdomen looks extended outward to much. The torso as a whole looks to long. Sculptwise he looks decent, there are some nice details. I think the lack of visible articulated points and the muscle definition make the figure look stiff. Overall I think the figure is junky and is a very easy pass for me! I do wonder what kind of range of motion the figure has with the internal joint system. I bet its limited. I also see the legs being hard to keep balance with poses.

It seems more like the Wrightson design than the "modern" Moore/Totelbein design (which is like 30 years old by now, of course). I probably wouldn't buy it either way, but I prefer the modern look (without the ears).

Available at SDCC and on www.MattyCollector.com

Young Justice — Superboy in Cloning Chamber – $20.00

This show-accurate figure recreates the scene from the pilot episode when Robin, Aqualad, and Kid Flash discover the mysterious Project Kr, where the Light has commissioned “The Weapon.” Using Superman’s DNA – without his knowledge or consent – Cadmus has force-grown the Superboy, using telepathic Genomorph-Gnomes to make a virtual slave of Superman’s son. The cloning tank includes Superboy plus 3 telepathic Genomorph-Gnomes, and with the press of a button, the inside of the cloning tank lights up a glowing blue. This version of Superboy will be available at SDCC, then on MattyCollector.com.

DC Universe Classics– Swamp Thing (plus Un-Men in SDCC packages) – $30.00

This fan-demanded character is available for the first time in the DC Universe and is the first ever DC Universe character to feature endoskeletal articulation! Vowing to protect the environment and his swamp home, Swamp Thing comes in a paper pulp mold of a Swamp Thing head and houses Swamp Thing himself! No ordinary packaging can contain Swamp Thing, so he’ll be packed in a shipper box with the Swamp Thing head peering out. He’ll be available July 15th here at MattyCollector.com, then at SDCC. Pick him up at SDCC and he’ll arrive with mini-figures of Un-Men Ophidian and Cranius! Note: Un-Men mini-figures are only available at SDCC and will not be sold with Swamp Thing on Mattycollector.com after the show.

Some of this stuff is cool like the Frankenberry Milk Truck (I used to collect Hot Wheels), but not cool enough for me to wait in line for 2 hours... and the Swamp thing could be so much better with more articulation. It looks so stiff and disproportioned. The upper body looks too big, like he's a midget or something.

The Superboy chamber is cool, but the figure is weak. They should have used a DC Universe Superman body and repained it with a new head sculpt.

Like the GL Basic figs, the 4" Young Justice figs will have crummy articulation. Yay.

Star Wars Revenge of the Jedi Collector 12-Pack: Star Wars collectors will be pleased to know that they will finally be getting a Death Star from Hasbro in the form of a gigantic cardboard case which holds 12 individually carded Vintage Collection figures. But that’s not all, the set also includes individually mini-carded figures of Salacious Crumb and a Mouse Droid. All 14 action figures will feature the "Revenge of the Jedi" logo on the packaging to commemorate the preliminary title of the film before it was changed to Return of the Jedi.

I thought it was just a bunch of discarded figures.

I don't get it. Why are the cardbacks all wrong on those figures?

Well they are not exactly wrong. Return Of The Jedi was originally titled Revenge Of The Jedi, the title was changed just a couple of weeks before release. That's why Posters and other merchandise can be found with that movie title on it. There is even one poster that was sent out that not only said Revenge Of The Jedi but the printer made a error on it that has the colors of Vader and Luke's lightsaber's reversed. That one poster I have seen go for as much as $3000.

This honestly strikes me as more of Lucas milking his fan base. Seriously as if he hasn't flooded the market enough with toys (much of which is crap) But now he is trying to tap into the Star Wars underground market as it were. The market for Star Wars error products was always high and Revenge Of The Jedi merchandise was always the top dollar in that market.

Yes, I'm well aware of all that, but I meant like why is Han Solo on a Boba Fett card? They're all wrong. Is that some nod to famous mistakes from past releases or something?

Loving the Superboy. Since Swampy's bigger than the scale I normally collect, I would be interested in getting a couple for customs but I can't see paying that price just to paint 'n' hack 'em.

Did I miss any potential Marvel Universe exclusives out of blindness?
