Happy Thanksgiving.
I'm thankful for all the good and helpful friends I've made, both online and in person, and also for how lenient they are putting up with my lazy ass.

Also belongs in Better Side of Humanity thread, but I'm still too stuffed to post the same thing twice:
Boy calls 911 to invite country sheriff's office staff/deputies to Thanksgiving dinner with his family

Hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving yesterday. I did the usual two visits with y wife and kids yesterday; first to my inlaws and Jen's family, and then to my mom and her husband's for my side. All local so it was all good!

Yesterday morning, my parents got a call that my stepfather's father had died. He left this afternoon for Europe, should be back next week.
Before anyone gives their condolences, keep in mind they had a really bad relationship the entire time they knew each other and the old man wasn't much to speak of before that. My stepdad laughed off my own sympathies, which I was hesitant to give for that very reason. So far as he's concerned, this is an inconvenience and he has to settle affairs once and for all. That aside, my younger sister, her boyfriend (who's half again her age), his young daughter, and her son came over. I thought my stomach would burst from all the food I ate, and it hurt to belch. But I had off from work yesterday and today, and don't go back in 'til Monday, so I can relax a bit more than usual.

Yeah, and this isn't the first time this sort of shit has hit our fan. My older sister's father went from a really nice man to a massive bastard who refused to raise his own daughter, choosing instead to dote upon his new girlfriend's kids.
One Christmas, when my sister was maybe 14, she wrote him a really vicious letter making it clear she finally understood what kind of person he was in her life and how much she hated him for it, and of course he had it out with her over the phone. When he died, I said my sorry, and she accepted, but I doubt either of us pretends that asshole was anything other than a biological donor. But I think we're dragging things off-track. Maybe I needed to vent a little, but I don't want to commandeer.

So, on Thanksgiving we just had a small thing with my folks and aunt. Today, we're having a belated Tday celebration with I think 13 of us. It's also doubling as a Bday celebration for my stepdad (60 tomorrow) and an early Christmas celebration for those of the fam we won't see again this year.

Had today off, helped around the house and played a bit of my game. Just had the main dinner, only awkward parts were the rants about casinos springing up in the area (paid for with taxpayer money, blah blah blah) and a rant about how Thanksgiving is being taken away because of Muslims or some dumb shit like that. Typical old people who are shaking their fists at the clouds nonsense.
Had a slice each of pumpkin pie and apple crostada. Really wish I didn't have to work tomorrow.

Basketball played Kyrie Irving was ranting about Thanksgiving because it supposedly discriminates against Native Americans or some shit like that. So yes, there are politically correct assholes like him who would get rid of it.

^I've heard that argument every now and then and find it ironic. There are a whole bunch of examples of bad relations with European settlers/Americans and the native tribes here. Why would you want to undo one of the most positive interactions? [And from what I remember, while details are disputed about that and it wasn't the Puritans' motivation for the feast, it still was a positive relationship at the time.] That's a little like saying we shouldn't honor Abraham Lincoln because race relations were still bad after the Civil War.

Happy Thanksgiving!
I managed to get today off, so tomorrow is work and then the usual free weekend. I spent the day doing some cleaning and playing my game, enjoying my cat keeping my company. Watched a few music videos, some James Rolfe/Mike Matei uploads, playing a couple mobile games, and reading. I'm almost finally done with my second Warhammer 40k fan story (should be able to upload tomorrow evening, editing won't take long since it's pretty short). Caught a glimpse of the Cowboys getting slapped silly by the Bills. Overall a good day for me.

Happy thanksgiving everyone. I had a pretty good one too. Had lots of food, although by the end I was pretty exhausted from everyone asking me questions. I like company, but sometimes I prefer to be myself TBH.
