Halloween (2018) trailer

Shit, man, this is looking good. Aside from the somewhat-cliche bit of the patients-dog-mask scene, the film is looking like a serious and thought-out sequel. Love how Laurie has spent all these years preparing to pay Michael back for all the shit he put her through.

Am I the only one who thinks it’s weird they aren’t related anymore?

I've watched it 5 times now. That trailer was fantastic. I have gone from an eye rolling Doubting Thomas to thinking they may actually pull off a good movie.

They did that angle to death. And it was only a retcon they came up with years later. I'm all for seeing what they do without that narrative crutch. Not to mention Halloween II came out THREE years after the first one. So that retcon happened much later than some fans realize.

I liked the retcon, but they got ALL the mileage out of it humanly possible. I'm up for seeing what they do without it.They might be able to pull off a whole fresh new mythos now. All of the old timelines painted themselves into the same corner over and over again.

That was kind of a funny way to deal with it---"that was something people made up" or whatever. The series was already retconned officially in H20 and Zombie's movies (and arguably in H2 & 6), so another isn't a big deal.

If you count Halloween III as it's own timeline then this new one will make 5 timeline/continuities in the Halloween Franchise. I can forgive one more if the movie is good. It's not like there is an unbroken continuity to protect anymore.

So apparently there's a horror flick called "Handjob Cabin."

I secretly suspect Matt Stone and Trey Parker were involved in its creation.

This is a new genre of horror.

You've heard of slasher films. Well, this is a whacker film.

^You guys do know it's a fan trailer, right? For that, it was fairly funny.

Yeah. Made me think of the fake trailers for Grindhouse. Hilarious.

^Yeah, some should stay that way like Hobo with a Shotgun. This one feels like it would be tedious as a feature. Then again, I would've said the same about Zombeavers before I saw it.

EDIT/BTW: The movie of Rosemary's Baby turns 50 today (6/12). Since my stepdad is staying with his sister tonight after she has some surgery, I'm going to have dinner with my mother and watch it (she'd been talking about wanting to see it, but my stepdad hates demonic movies).

BTW, Cinemassacre's latest look at horror continuity is Halloween (though it's more like one of James' joke rants than an actual analysis):

Yeah, he's clearly having a little fun with how screwy the timeline and films' content are (then again, that's what happens when you have a long-running series and little attempt to maintain control over the ideas therein).

I'll try and see it in theaters, absolutely.

Yeah, it seems to happen to all the franchises. In order to avoid completely repeating themselves they have to complicate things so Michael became part of some Druid prophecy; Jason became a body-hopping unstoppable entity; Freddy was revealed to work for some kind of dream demons; even Terminator re-wrote its own timeline multiple times.

Ditto. I think Zombie's first remake is the only one I've seen in theaters, but now I'm enough of a fan, that I'll probably watch any new ones.

I honestly can't recall if I saw H20 in theaters, it's been so long. I saw Zombie's first Halloween in theaters, that I recall.

I saw H20 in theaters when it came out. The only reason I remember is because I quite liked it. I may have seen the next one with busta rhymes in theaters too, but I wasn't crazy about it, so I can't quite remember.

^Yeah, I'm pretty sure I saw H20 just when it went to rental. Late 90s was just when I was starting to get into horror specifically (as opposed to just happening to like some horror movies) and I didn't follow Michael yet, but caught some of them here and there.

At this point in my life, I'd probably try to see any Jason, Freddy, or Michael movie that comes out in theaters unless the trailer or feedback made me feel it was so far off base I couldn't stand it.
