That's not a perfect list, since I came up with it by looking at the wiki for "Comic book films" but I think it's mostly comprehensive. I don't think I've seen the Superman movies enough to give a good ranking. Same for Hellboy 2 and Batman Returns. Waiting for discourse re: Speed Racer.

I don't think I could really make this list (I'm sure I'd forget something that's a comic adaptation), but Superman II would probably be in my #1 spot. The sheriff scenes are a bit "painfully corny" nowadays, but the movie was/is awesome and expanded comics movies' scope. Superman vs. 3 other Kryptonians?! Hell yes. Getting revenge on a bully in a diner? Priceless.

The other contenders to me would be X2 and Batman Begins (I'm one of only 3 people I've heard about that actually like BB more than DK) but if I were only looking from a technical side I'd have to say that Sin City was the movie that most closely captured its source material.

If I could include comics movies that aren't actually based on a comic, The Incredibles would take my #1 spot as both my personal favorite and the best superhero movie hands down.

Well, I wouldn't put it in #1 but I think Speed Racer was underrated. It perfectly captured the fun of the show (never read the manga).

Oh, but I did hate Spiderman 3. Only slightly less than I hated #2. The jazz dance scene alone makes me never want to see it again. Then again, the things I disliked about these (mostly that Peter is a whiner pining over that annoying woman) are things I dislike about the comics.

Would Mystery Men count as a comic book film? If so, did you just overlook it, or did you really like it less than Ghost Rider? I loved Mystery Men.

I also enjoyed Speed Racer (I own a copy), and my son LOVES it. Don't know that I'd put it #1, myself, though.

Didn't watch the show. Didn't read the manga. I thought it was fantastic. Maybe #1 is a little high, but I wouldn't put it lower than #4.

Emo Peter dancing in the streets: Best scene ever.

Man, I was hoping for more "Speed Racer? That movie was awful!" You guys suck. I WANT DISCOURSE!

Well you should. IMHO. If you like it, I will have turned you on to a good, fun movie. If you think it sucks, at least you can come on here and have some "discourse" with me over it.

                • You think 24-32 should be higher?

Speed Racer was fantastic and you're wrong.

Men in Black might be a bit high.

YOU might be a bit high judging from that list!

Speedracer barely counts as a movie at all! It should have gone straight to DVD.

What, couldn't find any room on your list for Steel or Tank Girl? Too cramped to fit the Hasslehoff Nick Fury movie?

                      • For me (I can't make a list) it would rank around Ghost Rider. Bad film. My top three would be The Dark Knight, Scott Pilgrim and The Avengers.

That's another movie that both my parents said they liked too. Now, my stepdad had watched the cartoon as a boy but my mother hates car movies and said she was surprised by how much she liked it.

I know why S.R. failed as a film, but I must confess that I DID enjoy it, and not as a "so bad its awesome" -film either.
