Geoff Johns will remain co-head of Warner Bros. Pictures' DC Films division, working alongside the newly-promoted Walter Hamada. Hamada's official title will be President, DC-Based Film Production,with Johns remaining as DC Entertainment President and Chief Creative Officer.

True, but the fact that it might not be HIS stories that get adapted into movies is probably enough to make his more ridiculous fanboys want to cry in a corner.

I also doubt execs at WB give two shits about the sales of one comic enough to let a guy keep his very high ranking job. GJ won't be working on the maxi series for another year, I'd almost wager around half the series is already in the can.

In all reality though, say Doomsday Clock sells 100k one month and it makes $300k - $400k in sales. That's pocket change to an exec at WB. Even with consistent sales for all 12 issues it'd still only be a few million at best totaled up... which would STILL be chump change in the eyes of WB.

Yeah WB couldn't care less about comic book sales. Also Johns isn't being demoted so much as they're bringing someone else in, which strikes me as WB wrongly and worryingly panicking over JL's underperformance, which wasn't even really entirely Johns fault anyway, but hey that's a studio for you.

What they might do with the movies is to give Johns a credit as executive producer. That can mean whatever you want it to -- that the person really is in charge, or that he's just an adviser. Sometimes a star will be given that credit simply as a way of paying him more money.

It's interesting that they draw the distinction of "Geoff's DC Rebirth" and "Didio's New52" as if each thing is exclusive to that person. But Geoff's hands were all over the New52. It wasn't until people had enough of it that he was like, "Well... eh, it wasn't really my idea at all."

It's exactly like the Green Lantern movie. When it was still coming out, Geoff sung its praises everyday, would Tweet and do interviews left and right talking about how proud he was of the movie, and how GL fans were going to have their minds blown. Then it comes out, gets bad critical reaction and doesn't do great B.O. and he's suddenly all, "Ehh... well, I really liked Mark Strong as Sinestro!"
