Well, it's certainly not a movie that needs a sequel BUT it's also one where the makeup will hide Keaton's aging AND if it's to be done I'd rather they both be involved. Also, it doesn't take much to do a sequel. Even the rules of #1 allow for Beetlegeuse's return.

This sequel strikes me as something that's only happening because of the box office failure of Dark Shadows.

The fact that Seth Grahame-Smith is writing the script is not encouraging. He already wrote two flops. Burton should trying to make him happen as a scriptwriter.

The sequel has been in talks for a few years now, well before dark shadows flopped.

Tim Burton wasn't supposed to be directing it though.

Burtons been connected to it since 91 in one form or another. And recently as back as Feb of 2012. Still before dark shadows was released.

He was never confirmed, he was merely rumored.

There was a screenwriter attached, but no director. Besides I remember at one time Tim Burton hated doing sequels. He even made a "terrible" sequel treatment to Beetlejuice just so he could get out of making one.

Can not even the most blatantly evil fairy-tale villain avoid the "No really, she is really the good one, just misunderstood and misrepresented" treatment?

The first time somebody does it, it seems clever, the second time, amusing perhaps, but after that? Sometimes you just want a good, old-fashioned, straight up evil witch, y'know? You can give some more depth and motivation to their "evil" ways, like they did in Tangled, with a woman who clearly (to me, anyway) was still a straightforward villain, but was motivated by a fear of aging and death, and didn't just do evil stuff for the sake of being evil. But twisting things around so that the famously "evil" person was actually the one being wronged? I dunno, I'm not a big fan.

Not if the wikipedia article is to be believed. Which perhaps it isn't, but how often does Disney make a movie whose star is the villain?

'It's a Wonderful Life' sequel underway

FINALLY! The gritty reboot of It's a Wonderful Life!

"After banking executive George Bailey was set-up by his rival for securities fraud, he's trapped in prison with only one way out: through the heart of the beautiful prison librarian Mary. Now the clock is running for George to put together the perfect escape plan! With the help of Clarence, a fellow inmate who looks after George like a guardian angel but who just might be after DAT BOOTY, can he con his way out of the pen and into Mary's pants? Find out in...

It's A Wonderful Life 2: SUPER-MAX"

...Ugh, I wish. It would make this pill easier to swallow. Then again, if this does about as well as the original film at the box office then we'll all be praising it in a few short decades.

Did I read that right? In the new movie, George Bailey's grandson (also named George Bailey) is shown how much BETTER off the world would be if he HADN'T been born? Really?

That imaginary Wonder Twins movie is starting to sound better....
