I think if there can be enough contrast between Hal and John, even with Geoff Johns involved with the screen play.
In the New52 of the Justice League, Johns had written Hal as a bright light, big action and over confident character in contrast to Batman's stoic, methodical and low profile approach. Which is also playing out in Darkseid War. I think Stewart can be the Batman-like methodical and mild mannered contrast to Hal's upbeat and hotshot antics. Perhaps like Kirk and McCoy, so instead of "Damn it, Jim!" we get "Damn it, Hal!"

OohRAH!
Yeah, I think there's built in contrast between a hot shot test pilot and a Jarhead.

I'm a big Hal fan, but I also spent six years in the Marine Corps. No way John would ever put up with that Zoomie B.S. Hal throws around, although chain of command is generally a big deal with Uncle Sam's Misguided Children... -Don

I'm telling you turkeys, the key is to do a 70s period piece and recreate John's first appearance, afro and all. He'll be the jive-talking militant and Hal will be the straight-laced honky. It will be dyn-o-mite.

Oh man, you just ruined me for any OTHER possible GLC movie plot. WB needs to immediately fire whoever's writing the script, we have their man.

I honestly rather see a Training Day type movie with Hal Jordan and Sinestro but that's not happening. As for a buddy cops film I wish we could see Hal & Kilowog but I guess I'll settle with Hal & John and I'm sure that will work fine. Hal will be the rule breaker while John will be the boyscout.

I don't know if I'd put it in top ten space, but it was pretty good and I still hope to get the CD some day.

Me neither. I thought Newton Howards' GL score was average and nothing special. He's done better and more epic scores for worse movies like The Last Airbender. I was hoping GL would get a more memorable theme that could hold it's own to John Williams' Superman theme and Danny Elfman's Batman theme. Oh well, at least I can enjoy the soundtracks to Robert J. Kral's Green Lantern: First Flight, Kevin Manthei's Justice League: New Frontier, Frederik Wiedmann's GL:TAS, and Michael McCuistion's In Brightest Day... episode of Superman:TAS. I still listen to JNH's GL score because it has it's moments but overall it could have been a lot better IMO.

I remember hoping that GL would get a main theme song that would be catchy, memorable and something recognizably associated with the name Green Lantern. When you hear the themes for Superman, Jaws, Indiana Jones and Star Wars, you know what franchise you are hearing. Too bad they couldn't snag John Williams because I can't for the life of me hum anything resembling a GL theme.

That gif is so amazing! It makes me want to watch a GL movie!
...then I remember that the rest of the movie is NOT so amazing, and I get sad...

Even though I thought Green Lantern wasn't a very good movie, it has its moments. And I watch the film from time to time. There are some days where I just fast forward through the movie to see the key parts (my edited special edition) and comes of really well. A big cut for me when watching the film is anything to do with Hector Hammond.

Yeah, Hammond just needed to be hacked right the hell out of it. And his father. And Waller.

I can do that with a lot of movies, though, GL included. If it has parts I significantly like, it's re-watchable to me. I must've watched the GL movie at least a dozen times, probably a fair amount more.

To me, if you're a GL fanatic (I am) you'll most likely like the movie. With a general feeling of "it coulda been SO much better if...". |
