I thought after Infinite Crisis Hypertime was gone?

Morrison invented Hypertime, though...

No idea. I'd have to go through the Hellmouth that is my pile of back issues.

Morrison and Waid came up with the concept together, or they both had separate ideas which they merged together or something along those lines, but yea it was first introduced by Mark Waid in The Kingdom.
DC's official stance as a company these days is that Hypertime no longer exists but since Morrison was one of the architects behind I wouldn't be surprised if it popped up in passing in one of his works since he tends to treat all his stuff as being in continuity and editorial seems to give him free reign to whatever he wants.

Hypertime would only serve to confuse readers since they have their 52 Earths concept currently established. It' out. Really it seemed to be out of the picture shortly afetr it was introduced. Morrison was going to do a miniseries featuring the concept, but it fizzled out. And it really doesn't jive with there being only 52 Earths out there.
Plus the DCU is almost totally different now than it was pre-Flashpoint. The JSA, Hard-traveling Heroes, all the Crisises, ALL that's out. Why would something as obscure as Hypertime still be in? |

The whole 52 was apparently rebuilt somehow because of Flashpoint... but Hypertime would be a way to allow for the pre-Flashpoint 52 to still be out there.

True, but it looks like Morrison can do whatever he wants right about now, so if he wants Hypertime to show up in Action Comics, it'll show up, lol.

Of course, the very nature of alternate timelines in general and Hypertime in particular means you can't get rid of it.

If it shows up anywhere, it'd be in Multiversity, wouldn't it?

True, and if Grant Morrison wants to use it there, I doubt they will stop him. But I also doubt it will be referred to anywhere else, even if he does use it there.

Hypertime exists and always will. All the multiverses, alternate timelines, alternate universes are parts of Hypertime.

Waid and Morrison destroyed the concept of Hypertime together in the pages of 52, where Mr. Mind ate Hypertime.

Except 52 has been completely retconned. Besides, Hypertime exists across all of time and space, so you can't destroy it anyway.
There's much easier proof, though: pick up any comic book pre-Flashpoint. There's your other timelines. |
