When you have 6 to 7 ongoing lantern related titles on your publishing schedule, you'd think making John Stewart the star of ONE of them would be a nobrainer.

I hope this turns out great. We're overdue.

I agree. Been rereading "Mosaic" lately, and lamenting how underutilized John has been lately.

If the Batman universe has room for Nightwing and Tim Drake to have had ongoing titles for pretty much decades, there's no reason why Green Lantern can't have John Guy and Kyle support their own titles in addition to Hal. I'll buy them all. All DC has to do is make them good.

Unless John death is temporary... Like Kyle death in blackest night. I only hope the writers can make old Johnny boy shine as much as possible! He has got a close friend outside gl universe huh?

Well, he's black and he's a GL. I think that technically counts as an origin in the new 52.

I don't think that John's death was ever an issue. Keep in mind that the new editors of GL came over from Superman. Up until Eddie Berganza took over last month, those books have been a mess editorially since the beginning.

Will you enjoy it any less (assuming it's good) if there's no origin stories at all?

It's about freaking time. My lord. As much as I've been enjoying Guy lately, I'm really happy John Stewart will be the star of this book. It's well overdue.

Totally looking forward to what's next!

I have to admit that comic John Stewart has mostly been boring these days, but that's due to the fact that nothing notable has been done with him in roughly twenty years. I was hoping that when Geoff Johns came on board about nine years ago that John Stewart would get more spotlight, but he was buried even more. At least he would do a little here and there in the (low side of mediocre at the time) JLA comic before Johns came along, but he got that taken from him and wasn't showcased anywhere.

And when he was showcased, he was boring. Though I loved him still, he was written as a boring two dimensional character who was just this stern, sullen, somewhat quiet guy who would get the same tragic type stories over and again. Like, he screwed up at something, killed someone, got put in an unfair situation that only he would be put in... stuff like that. He just wasn't being used to his potential. And he would never grow as a character from this stuff. Every now and then it would say he's moved on, but then he's back to the same bleak stuff again. He's capable of a lot more than that. One simply has to read the Gerard Jones version of the character to see it. That showcased him as the most complex and compelling character in the franchise, in my opinion. I think he hasn't really had the stage to do anything else. The stories lately have hardly had John in them in the grand scheme of things, and they're hardly character focused. They're always driven by some long, boring mega "event" in which a new colored corps appears, a mondo villain, or a colored corps with mondo villains (Cyborg Superman, Parallax, Sinestro, Superman Prime and Anti-Monitor!? Very creative, just make a different colored corps and/or take the biggest bads you can think of and throw them all at the good guys at once).

I appreciate in one of the Van Jensen interviews he says he's going to show more sides of John than what's been shown lately and the stories will be character focused. He seems like someone who is really enthusiastic about working with John and he has a spectacular artist working with him. The art I've seen for the upcoming GLC issue from the new creative team is gorgeous. I haven't been so excited about anything from DC in many years. It seems like a real breath of fresh air from the art I've seen and the interviews that have been given.

You should vote for John in the greatest GL poll. He only has 29 votes so far.

Hopefully he doesn't. He's going to the JLA book and out of the GL titles, last we heard.

You'd have to ask a mod to add him. Since one of those mods is very anti-Baz, you'll have your work cut out for you.

since he [and Sinestro and B'dge] are going to Johns' JLA series I wouldn't be surprised if he decreed they were off limits to anyone else but him. He last bit of ego stroking before he fecks off.
