Just one lead? Not an ensemble? Interesting. I don't think that VII and VIII have one single lead, you could argue for Rey, Finn, or even Kylo. Neither did Rogue One. I think the only Star Wars film so far that had a single lead was the aptly named Solo.
Despite our disagreements over Last Jedi, I still believe in Rian Johnson, especially if he doesn't have to follow Abrams' lead on a movie. Brick, Looper and the vastly underrated Brothers Bloom have all been phenomenal.

Yo.

I don't care if the lead *or* the central character happens to be female, as long as the film itself doesn't make me regret watching it like SW:TLJ did.... :/

Never saw Brick or Brothers Bloom. Looper is not bad but a bit overrated, I think, though most of my problems with it probably have to do with its budget constraints (but really, a time-travelling movie and set 90% of it on a farm?).

Also, his "Knives Out" looks appalingly bad.

I've been out of the SW loop for quite some time now....so this show has nothing to do with Fett, right?

Supposedly not. At the moment it's a mystery to the viewer who the Mandalorian even is, though he is played by the guy who played Oberyn Martell on Game Of Thrones. There is also an IG unit who is a character in the show, but it's NOT IG-88. It's basically stand in characters for Fett and IG-88, which has me very curious why Disney just doesn't use the actual characters.

Anyway, the trailer and behind the scenes footage looks amazing. It has a western feel to it and it looks like they are really trying for once.

.

I can't speak for Fett, but there are numerous versions of the IG Series Assassin droids (going back to Darth Tyranus, I believe, but don't quote me on that). Even in the old EU, there were 4 dispatched droids that all have back stories leading up to ROTJ. So I can see how Disney could get away with "well, it's not IG-88, but it is an IG series droid."

But thanks for the info. Much appreciated. I will check out the trailer.

Oh, hush, you. I don't know what's up with this new Disney trilogy, but the prequels were fine for what they were. At least we had an idea of what episode 3 was going to turn out to be. Also, they had some pretty spectacular moments in my opinion, so don't be a prequel hater. You are better than that.

Amazing how everyone who hated the prequels for 20 years ended up loving them now that the sequels are around.

I'm only passingly familiar with B&B, but I assume you mean the grammar, which is bad.
I tried two other memes before that, but their links were dead (probably from Disney spies) and I've never made a meme. I like the one with Picard and the lights.

Well, I own the DVDs for the preqs and was psyched for them back in the day, but as time goes on I've realized the only thing in SW I care about (and where I think the true story is) is the original trilogy.

The preqs do seem somewhat justified, though, because of the numbering and because they were made by the same creator to give the backstory. [They at least tell part of the same story as opposed to treating SW like a univese where any story can be told and defeated enemies can constantly be re-hashed.] With the additon of the prophecy, I also personally believe they reinforce my point that the Sith (and by extension the Empire) were defeated once and for all in RotJ (though I realize many reject this reading).

I'd agree that there were good moments in the preqs, but the damage done by midi-chlorians and finding out that Anakin didn't so much fall from being a righteous hero as slide from whiny stalker to super villain far outweigh the good.

It is funny how the Disney sequel trilogy is making the prequel trilogy look better as time goes by.

Yet understandable. 7 isn't a bad movie but made some pretty head-slappingly bad decisions... while 8 was a straight up bullet to the liver.

1-3 weren't necessarily great movies but they were alright and were at least original.

So at least we have a name to a face, so to speak. And you were right, Dave, the trailing looks amazing. I like the feel and tone of it.

Yo.

a number of ya'll here will appreciate this: http://www.darkhorizons.com/how-forc...pointed-lucas/

Quote:
How “Force Awakens” Disappointed Lucas

“George knew we weren’t contractually bound to anything, but he thought that our buying the story treatments was a tacit promise that we’d follow them, and he was disappointed that his story was being discarded.

I’d been so careful since our first conversation not to mislead him in any way, and I didn’t think I had now, but I could have handled it better. I should have prepared him for the meeting with J.J. and Michael and told him about our conversations, that we felt it was better to go in another direction. I could have talked through this with him and possibly avoided angering him by not surprising him.

Now, in the first meeting with him about the future of Star Wars, George felt betrayed, and while this whole process would never have been easy for him, we’d gotten off to an unnecessarily rocky start.”

I think they're drastically misrepresenting Lucas here, and there's also some straight up untruths there.

Disney made HIM write the outlines for VII - IX. It was part of the deal... they wouldn't buy unless he pulled those outlines from thin air. He did and that was that.

All of this stuff about him being angry, I'm not seeing it. Seems like prequel hater wish fulfillment fiction.
