Last year it was reported that Julie Strain had passed away, but it turned out to be a hoax. This time, sadly, it seems to be real, as her family confirmed it. She was a sweet, beautiful, talented lady, and we'll all miss her.

Nancy Bush Ellis, the sister of one president and aunt of another, who for a time devoted herself to Democratic causes despite her family dynasty’s Republican lineage, died on Sunday at an assisted living facility in Concord, Mass. She was 94. Her son Alexander Ellis 3d said the cause was complications related to Covid-19. She was hospitalized on Dec. 30 with a fever and tested positive for the coronavirus, he said. Her symptoms abated within days, he added, but her general health was failing. Smart, athletic and outgoing, Ms. Ellis exuded the patrician charm of a bygone era, Jon Meacham, the historian and biographer of President George Bush, said in a phone interview. She was active, he added, at a time when public service was perceived as noble and politicians from the other party were not regarded as enemies.

If you have nothing nice to say...
https://investor.sands.com/press-rel...n/default.aspx Las Vegas Sands issued the following statement announcing the death of company Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Sheldon G. Adelson. Our founder and visionary leader, Sheldon G. Adelson, passed away last night at the age of 87 from complications related to treatment for non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Born to immigrant parents and raised in a poor section of Boston, Mr. Adelson went from a teenager selling newspapers on a street corner to becoming one of the world's most successful entrepreneurs. His achievements in the integrated resort and hospitality industry are well-documented. In Las Vegas, Macao and Singapore, Mr. Adelson's vision for integrated resorts transformed the industry, changed the trajectory of the company he founded, and reimagined tourism in each of those markets. His impact on the industry will be everlasting.

Joanne Rogers, the widow of TV’s Mr. Rogers, has died at the age of 92, according to Fred Rogers Productions. The couple were married for 50 years before Fred Rogers’s death from stomach cancer in 2003. “Fred relied on Joanne,” Bill Isler, the former president of Fred Rogers Productions, told the Los Angeles Times in 2019. “He would often say that if it wasn’t for Sara Joanne Byrd Rogers, the ‘Neighborhood’ probably would have never happened.” In her own right, Rogers was also a prolific pianist, performing for three decades and recording two albums with her longtime partner Jeannine Morrison. She is survived by her two sons with Fred Rogers, Jim and John.

US music producer Phil Spector has died at the age of 81, while serving a prison sentence for murder. Spector, who transformed pop with his "wall of sound" recordings, worked with the Beatles, the Righteous Brothers and Ike and Tina Turner. In 2009, he was convicted of the 2003 murder of Hollywood actress Lana Clarkson. His death was confirmed by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. My sympathies are very limited.

He was very influential and a genius producer, unfortunately all of those talents he had were hiding behind a much darker worse person, with a very twisted mind. It's rather unfortunate all things considered.

Sometimes the wall of sound worked extremely well, as on George Harrison's album All Things Must Pass. The combination of Harrison and Spector really clicked. I think it's the best solo Beatle album.
But more than a few people have told some awful stories about Spector. Once when he was mad at Ronnie he got up before she did and broke glass all over the floor of their bedroom, so she couldn't get out of bed. Another time he took their son to a restaurant and didn't buy him anything. When he had finished eating he pushed his scraps toward the boy and told him he could eat them. Yep, that's one of the successes. It probably came from a combination of Harrison's lack of confidence in his vocals and a truer collaboration between the two (as opposed to Let It Be, which the Beatles pretty much handed it over).
