For example.... When Hal goes to Heaven to visit Ollie... there is the implication that he can only do so as the Spectre... agent of God.

So if we're now introduced to a character (Nekron) who's power EXCEEDS that of "God"... then THAT is a very real and very large shift in the status quo.
you know what? let's just say that God also works in mysterious ways in the DC Universe. maybe Nekron is also one of God agent in DC. who knows?

Why do people hate questions so much?

Why is asking questions perceived as bitching?

Bitching = Blackest Night sucks!!!

Questions = Blackest Night doesn't make sense to me. Why does x,y,z etc?

What a moronic thread. You people don't deserve 1% of the stories and characters Geoff creates and you people are going to go crying to mum when Geoff moves on to bigger and better things and can't write your funnybooks anymore.

A true literary god amongst men. If you can't see that then you're daft and should be drug into the street and shot. Barring that, at least kept off the internets.

Blackest Night is probably the best story I've ever read. And not just in comic books.

A truly overstatement comment.

No. I like Hal. I was just saying Blackest Night is far from one of the best stories ever told and he is far from the greatest writer.

I'm enjoying Blackest Night, but this comment says more to me about the limits of your reading than anything. I can't imagine anybody thinking this is the BEST story EVER written unless they haven't read very widely.

Everyone knows the best story ever written is Kingdom Come. If you donīt agree you fail at comic book reading.

That's a great tale but best event for me goes to Final Crisis but that's off topic.

I wouldn't say it's my favorite story. I would put it in my top events though. To me events aren't really great stories to begin with. Just like epic blockbuster movies aren't really great "stories". The entertainment value makes up for it though. Which BN is doing for me, providing me unmatched entertainment in my comic reading.

Pretty much the way I would explain it. Good post.

You don't believe Blackest Night is deep? There's all kinds of allegories and hidden meaning within virtually every page. I venture that you're either daft or blind or both if you can't see it too. Part of me wants Geoff to leave DC just to watch all of these so-called Geoff haters burst into tears when he does....but I love the comics too much to wish that seriously.

And do keep in mind I'm only referring to the Blackest Night mini and Geoff's GL title. GLC and Titans and all of that other sod can rot in the bum, you know?

I believe that Blackest Night is a "beat-em-up story" with a bunch of cool moments. We were told that BN would change the way we look at death in comics...hasn't happened and that was pretty much the whole point of the story. When Geoff Johns leaves DC, other writers will come in and do new stuff that is just as good if not better.

There's been some allegory and hidden meaning, but nothing I'd call really deep or thought provoking. Probably the scene that really captured me the most and made me think the most was when Walker was talking with Atrocitus. They shared a similar story, yet branched out on different paths. One choosing to believe in hope, the other to become filled with rage.

That's probably the 'deepest' I've felt reading anything related to BN. That and Black Hand's prologue, that was probably the best actual story told with BN thus far.

As long as they donīt wipe out the Corps...again..

And many big events promove things that wonīt happen. The whole "Evil Wins" in Final Crisis is an example of that. Iīm gonna agree with mysuserid when he said that Marvel at least changes the status quo for a while (we all know Dark Reign wonīt really last, but itīs still a change on the status quo).

Yeah and believe me, I enjoy Blackest Night for what it is. It's just lately I've felt like this story is turning into a giant retcon story to "reset" the DCU.

To truly enjoy Blackest Night, you have to treat it like a Summer blockbuster; Leave your brain at the door otherwise you'll ruin the experience. At this point, I almost expect plotholes but as long as the story is entertaining, I'll do my best to ignore the minor inadequacies.
