Default Green Lantern continues to sell out at my LCS

Yesterday, I went by my LCS to browse new comics and pick up GL #3. To my shock, all that was left was the EVS variant cover #3! I asked the guy if there were anymore regular editions (cuz I didn't feel like paying $6 for it) and he said all 27 issues sold out! Wow! 27 issues of a number three sold out! I ended up getting the variant as he knocked off $2 but I am surprised this "shot in the arm" move by DC is working! (but for how much longer? Issues 12 maybe? or sooner)

GL is doing very well for DC these days. Never thought our little corner of the DCU would be so trendy did we?

And four bucks for a variant cover is pretty good. Now get yourself a pull folder Mal!

One of my LCS continually sell out of GL too. I had to buy the variant issue of #1 because they sold out. They gave it to me at cover price which was cool.

Usually, I have to drive across town to the other shop for all the popular titles.

The regular title sells out (Green Lantern), the other titles (GLC, RL, and GL:NG) not so much. I must admit however that last month I was fortunate enough to have ability to get a copy of the first two issues. Back in the day I'd be lucky if I could the recent issue. I'd take that as a good and bad news.

I do, and I still ended up getting the variant on one of the issues (unknowingly, as nobody said anything, and they just charged cover price-didn't discover until later that it was the variant) probably because they ran low. They often complain of getting shorted on stuff, and I don't know whether to take them seriously, or think they are just making excuses when they really just forgot to pull something and sold out.

I have a file so I'm usually ok. I hit the racks for oddball things I want to try and not commit to. They save all the variants for GL and Flash titles for me as well as other personal faves. I'm pretty much the only customer there who gets variants and even then it's only a few titles.

I used to have a file, but they would forget to put certain titles (usually the hot books) into it which was frustrating. They would tell me, "Oh, we'll get in more next week" and when next week came, I wouldn't see anything.

After I got married, I stopped going to the store for several months and they cancelled my file. In the last few months, I've been going more regularly thanks to Yugioh-related events. The good thing is, they still give me a 25% discount on all titles.

Right now, I don't really want to have a pull file, especially with all the new titles. I might choose to drop certain books and don't want them having to put them back on the shelf.

My LCS sells out of stuff fast too (incl. GL). But it's 10 minutes away and now, being unemployed I get there within an hour of their opening on Wednesday (to look at all the books I can't afford ).
