Steve Bing, the film financier and philanthropist who backed hit movies from Robert Zemeckis’ The Polar Express and Beowulf to the Rolling Stones concert movie Shine a Light, has died.

According to law enforcement sources, Bing jumped from a Century City building at around 1 p.m. Monday. Following standard protocol, the Los Angeles Police Department would not confirm that the individual in question was Bing. However, the description of the man in his 50s who was found dead on the scene fits that of the producer.

https://www.al.com/news/2020/06/lege...ead-at-70.html

Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section guitarist Jesse Willard “Pete” Carr, who played on hits including “Kodachrome,” “Tonight’s The Night” and “Down on Mainstreet,” died today at the age of 70. Praise and accolades immediately began rolling in for one of the musicians other musicians call “great.”

Carr, who was considered in the same league with Duane Allman, moved from Florida to Alabama in 1966 to play guitar for a band called The Five Minutes. He replaced Eddie Hinton, who left that band to pursue studio work, and Carr told interviewers later that “irony and fate” led him to replace Hinton again when Hinton left the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section.

When the "Hogs" were at the forefront of success for the Washington Redskins in the 1980s, it was assistant coach Joe Bugel who was the architect.

Bugel became the head coach for the Phoenix Cardinals and Oakland Raiders, but it was his time during the 80s with the Redskins that he was remembered most.

An NFL coaching veteran of 32 autumns, Bugel passed away Sunday at the age of 80, the Redskins announced.

I'm kind of disappointed in myself that I didn't immediately recognize the name because he was so good in Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid.

Guy was a legend.

Yup, and he helped make Steve Martin's film career too. God I love The Man With Two Brains.

You could make a good argument that The Dick Van Dyke Show was the best sitcom of the Sixties. I think only Green Acres and the first few seasons of The Andy Griffith Show were better.

Linda Cristal, RIP. The High Chaparral was created by Bonanza's creator, David Dortort, and I think it was a better show. But it wasn't nearly as popular, probably because there was nobody in the cast as winsome as Dan Blocker, and Leif Erickson just wasn't engaging as the show's star. It's shown on cable and is well worth catching.

Nick Cordero, the charming Tony-nominated actor known for his work in Bullets Over Broadway, Waitress and A Bronx Tale the Musical, died Sunday after a grueling battle with the coronavirus, his wife announced. He was 41.

Since being diagnosed with what was thought to be pneumonia in late March, the Canadian actor spent weeks in intensive care at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, had his right leg amputated, lost more than 60 pounds and was hoping to receive a double-lung transplant.

My favorite film score composer has died, but he lived a long life and leaves behind a large, influential body of work.

Oh, wow. 91 is a long time to live, but at the same time, this is so unexpected, especially since he was active until his death. One of the first films composers I really remember paying attention, when I was much younger. RIP Mr. Morricone, his music will live on forever.

Ennio Morricone passing is a huge loss to film fans no matter what age he was. 91 is a great run, but still what a bummer. It wasn't that long ago that he scored the Hateful 8 for QT.
