Default Sick of Christmas before Halloween

Don't get me wrong I love Christmas but I am sick and tired of seeing Christmas decorations next to Halloween decorations. And now I have seen Christmas commercials on TV. Come on, can't we at least wait until November 1.

Anyone else have the same feeling?

Nope, I'm the complete opposite. I've been listening to Christmas music since early September and I've been to every retail store and a specialty shop in the area just to look at Christmas decorations.

Ditto! I'm with Lantern and Ion. I could see it if they started the christmas stuff in mid november, what with black friday being the day after thanksgiving, but whipping out the christmas stuff before Halloween, it's sucks. It cheepens Halloween for me.

Used to be a little bit of the Christmas spirit needed to be out early, so we could ship it to the troops overseas, but... July 5 is a little TOO early (that's right, saw some of it the day after Independence Day!). I still celebrate both All Saints Day and Advent. I don't celebrate Christmas until December 24, but then keep it going until Epiphany. Most of the rest of the world rips it down on New Year's Day. Civil "greeting-card" Christmas annoys me no end.

By the way, Azrael21, believe your signature line belongs to Charles Colson, not John Wayne.

I don't get out much. Don't go to many stores. Don't watch TV, so I have barely noticed this. The only thing I noticed was that my local dollar store had Christmas stuff out. It didn't particularly bother me. Actually, I moved one of the little skull decorations over by a Virgin Mary. [I'm Protestant, so ...] That amused me for about a second.

It all starts too early. Not even thinking about Christmas yet.

I'm indifferent about it because it happens every year; Christmas comes earlier and earlier every year. It's pretty much par for the course at this point.

I was at Walmart with my wife in early October, and they already had Christmas decorations up in the Garden area, and same with Costco.

Actually, I think it's gotten better the past two years. Here in old Britain decorations are usually up in shops in September. Now it's only just starting up now. But then again I haven't been out in a long time, so who knows.

Am I the only person who finds it easy to ignore Christmas shit until I want to enjoy it?

You can't be the only one, since I haven't even noticed any Christmas stuff yet, and I doubt the stores around here are any more restrained. Apparently I'm just overlooking it. Though that could be because I usually have little reason to frequent the Seasonal area of the stores until I need something seasonal. Actual STORE decorations (as opposed to stuff for sale) probably go up a bit later.

I was at Target the other day and they've already started removing the Halloween stuff and replacing it with Christmas crap.

Bah! Humbug!

I get so tired of seeing the jolly fat man poking his big ass into all of the other holidays. It's still a month away from Thanksgiving!

Nope. That's kind-of what I was saying. It doesn't bug me.

I have a feeling that mid December we'll start seeing Valentines day stuff.

I doubt it. Valentine's Day isn't as big of a holiday for retail sales. Seems like it would be comparable to Halloween, and I didn't see Halloween stuff in August.

Certainly by December 26, when we all hit the stores for Christmas clearance. Big box retailers have entire sections of the stores programmed for "seasonal" and they have to fill it with sumthin'. Means all your Easter Peeps will be very, very stale before April gets here.

The next time you feel iritated by the decorations in October, just start singing:

What's this? What's this?

Actually, the Peeps wouldn't make it that long if it was my house. Peeps for the win!

The grocery store near my office looks like Christmas shit all over it. Been that way for weeks.
