I decided to get back into the Bond books (Fleming at least to start). I considered just picking up with the ones I haven't read, but since I only read 5 of them (maybe) and it's been a long time, I thought I'd just read them chronologically and re-read the ones I already tackled (like this one) in between other books.

Casino Royale by Ian Fleming

(different cover because mine is in a collection)

The Life of William Carey, D.D.: Shoemaker and Missionary by George Smith
(different cover because I read a free Kindle version)

Read this partly for research, but got bogged down because although it has interesting stuff, it's slow and the author constantly goes off on tangents.

Yo.

just finished books 1 and 2 of this series (both were meaty stories):

and I'm now going over books 1 & 2 of the Stonehaven League, so that I'll have the story details fresh in my head when I get to this:

Finally finished that biography. Thought of moving on to just leisure reading, but I'll be done teaching Church History for the season soon, so one more background book (possibly to be interspersed with something lighter).

The Letters of John Newton

(different cover; mine is old enough that the price is still in shillings and pence)

I found an Hercule Poirot book at the library that was written by Sophie Hannah, with the seal of approval of Agatha Christie's estate. The Monogram Murders. While parts of the book were unsatisfying (way too many cases of an overabundance of details in a scene, only to have a character come in two or three chapters later and outright denying that it happened a certain way), but the resolution tied it all together nicely. It's a complicated resolution, that I only managed to predict in parts. The parts I didn't put together really enhanced the whole story. Now I'll have to read the other two Poirots by Hannah.

Between the Bond books I read these:

The Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment
by Jeremiah Burroughs

Totally Tubular '80s Toys
by Mark Bellomo

Finally got to and enjoyed this book that the author signed and gave to me at a local convention. I'd seen him in the Netflix series The Toys that Made Us, struck up a conversation and he gave me this. Fun read.

Since I'll be on a car ride, I went back to my Kindle to read a book I should've read a long time ago:

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
by Jules Verne
