Really? I mean I worked at a place seasonal for 1 month and they made us sit through an hour long Sexual Harrasment video. I mean I could see it in some minium wage places because most of those people don't care if they get fired. But Coprate places man I have herd stories that are rideculious.

Well, I worked for a small company, but we theoretically had a zero-tolerance policy and I would've played ball without any problem. However, the first time this co-worker made the jerk-off sign to me (in front of our supervisor) I figured I was safe with a little ribald humor.

But yes, labor is even worse. My step father used to work for the Department of Transportation and he said his workers could make a sailor blush. Of course, being a State job, they would push it too far and get written up but it didn't seem to stop them.

My aunt used to work for the county courts and she actually got a dildo for a present at an office Christmas party.

Of course, for every one of these stories, there's problem one about someone getting suspended or fired for a misunderstanding.

All of this is just to say that I can imagine Hal being the type to push the boundaries.

My thoughts exactly. I love talking about Green Lantern stuff but I feel like there are more haters than fans on this board. But I've always been more of a positive guy who looks at the good in things before the bad, so maybe I just can't handle negativity. And I'm pretty sure I'm one of the few here that actually like the Green Lantern movie but I've just learned to ignore the haters.

Just because you have complaints doesn't make you a hater.

I like the GL movie. Better than Superman Returns.

Exactly. Hopefully, I'm not one of the most negative people because I try to balance everything. For instance, I'm generally displeased with how GL has been going but I try to say at least one positive thing about every issue (whether I liked the art, a certain character moment, dialogue, whatever).

I can say that the board is much more negative than when I started lurking (around Rebirth) and then joined. But it doesn't bother me. My take is that it means there's actually something wrong with GL right now that is pissing off the longterm, hardcore GL fans. And for those who love everything GL right now? Well, you're still going to find more people like yourself here than on any other board online.

Do any other boards even have an active GL section? I know cbr refuses to revive theirs even though there will be 5 ongoing titles and about 4 related GL titles eventually (JL,JLA, Threshold and Earth-2)

I can hate how GL is now and think the GL movie was a dud, and that's okay. In the bigger picture, I've have times where I loved and hated what they were doing with the franchise over the last 30 years. This too, will pass. New creative teams are coming onboard in mere months, and in five years we could all be in love with it again, remembering these last few years as a distant, bad memory.

I'm pulling for GL to circle the wagons when this cycle of success is over, and the franchise to cut back to two books, GL and GLC. And have those two books be the very best they could ever be.

A couple of observations in this area:

Anything with a long-running continuity brings out strong love-hate feelings from fans. I've seen this with soap operas, the Simpsons, pro wrestling, the James bond movies, the various media in the Star Trek/Star Wars universes, and so on. While some fans are simply hard to please, others just experience periods that are lacking to them and yearn for changes in the product's direction.

Personally, the last thing in the GLC universe that I really disliked was Kyle hapharzardly giving out rings in the New Corps and creating a despot. That was 13 or 14 years ago. Since then, GL has been good-to-great, due in no small part to GJ's expansion of characters. GL/GLC is my failsafe when it comes to comics.

You didn't like that mini series? And THAT was the last thing you didn't like? The one with Scott Eaton on pencils? I'm not picking on you, that just strikes me as odd.

The art was fine, but Kyle impulsively giving a GL ring to someone he didn't really know made him seem stupid. He had his own ring for awhile at that point, so he should have been much more cautious about the ramifications of that kind of power in the wrong hands.

Yeah, that's the last thing that I really hated. I've been ambivalent to a few things here and there, but nothing that made me sorry I bought a certain run/TPB.

Isn't this the part where I have to give you a shrubbery so you don't kill me with "NIs"?

I love Green Lantern; I am a big fan of Geoff's run (Except for the last arc that has taken way too fucking long.) I have read lots of old stories too like Hard Traveling Heroes got me into it and Willworld is one of my favorite GL stories. Anyways I love The Corps.

I got so many found memories with GL. There was a comic shop next to a quizno's and I would buy a bunch of back issues walk over ther and just eat a ton of Jalopeno chips and read GL comics.

That sounds like the perfect way to spend a couple of hours, or an entire day.

Yep. Good times. My headphone and my GL was all I needed back in the day. There are songs that when I hear on I can remember what issue I was reading and what songs I was playing.

How did you avoid getting jalapeno dust all over the comics?

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Space Cop's answer to that is, "By not having any?"

That silly prude.

At any rate, I'm really fussy about chip dust. I never eat that kind of stuff unless I can wash my hands right after and never while reading or touching anything (like a remote control or such).
