Default DC has officially lost the plot.

If the 'New 52' (is it that new, now? Its been 4 years...) wasn't horrible enough, then it appears everything post-Convergence is just going to slip further down the toilet.

DC has a great stable of characters at their disposal yet continue to appoint writers and editors who want to put their egos ahead of the characters they are writing by continually fucking with the things that make them great and iconic.

Superman in jeans? Thats not aspirational or heroic. Batman in armor? That's the antithesis of the character. Another costume change for Wonder Woman? What's that? Her fourth costume change in 5 years? And now the final kick in the balls: taking Hal Jordan's ring away.

I've stayed loyal to DC through a lot of shitty mis-steps. But I think my patience is about expired.

Up until now most Wonder Woman costume changes were just variations of her old custume (maybe the exception being the JMS run costume). I for one really like the change. Plus you can still identify her by her costume despite it being that far removed from her usual costume.

Hal Jordans character has been written inconsistently since the 2011 soft-reboot so I don't really care about it. And Superman, yeah I agree that they took away anything that made him iconic.

I'm really only interested in Hal Jordan at this point. Swamp Thing was the only other DC character I cared about and that book lost its allure when Snyder dropped off. It just got progressively worse from there with the different "kingdoms" that didn't make a heck of a lot of sense. And I took a break from GL but it looks just as confusing as ever. I might jump on for this new arc because I like Hal's new look, but yeah, inconsistent writing, weak characterization...it's just not good.

DC is constantly looking for the shock value event to draw in new readers, but they don't seem to realize that they're pushing away the long-time fans. That said, I'll continue to read GL just to see what events transpire and hope that the stories get better.

I will say that I kind of dig WW's new outfit, but they really need to settle on one design. They change her outfit every year. Superman's costume is ridiculous.

Costumes don't make characters great, good stories do. I'm with you on the Hal Jordan point though, hardly seems like a worth while plot point.

It won't last. Maybe taking his ring away is the setup for bringing Hal back to Earth for traditional one-issue stories? And probably to get him back with Carol.

I have a solution! Do an issue where Hal's gauntlet shits the bed, and later in the issue Baz gets killed when he is hit by an icecream truck. His ring automatically flies back to Hal. Everybody wins.

It must physically hurt you that Baz exists but classic Alan doesn't, huh?

It makes me ache. Litterally. In my bones, like Evil Knievel on a rainy day.

Both of those characters -- Baz and the "improved" Alan -- are all about political correctness, which means that that they will NEVER go away. Bet your last dollar in it. DC would much rather go out of business than change that. Everyone will just have to move forward the best they can against that backdrop.

Usually I would agree but comics are a visual product. There is a upshot though, when you see a Green Lantern cover with out his ring or Superman in Jeans, you can automaticlly tell that the creative could not give a damn about the characters rich history. It is a giant warning label, that says. Pass this comic by.

Well, that's not true. Batman has put on armor many times in many stories.

I would say that Batman in armor as a his regular costume would seem odd. But do we know that's what this is? As has been mentioned, Batman often has donned armor for some specific purpose. That doesn't seem odd to me at all. But if he's wearing that giant suit of armor all the time...that would seem to represent a significant change to the nature of the character.

I don't know much about it, but I was under the impression that the armored Batman was a robot and not Bruce Wayne.

I really dislike the changes made to Wonder Woman and Superman. I really liked Wonder Woman's New 52 costume and didn't feel a change was needed at all. As for Superman, this isn't the first time he's been in a T-shirt and jeans, so I'm not totally sure why people are making a big deal about it. I mean, I don't think it's the best look for him, either, but it's not like it's something we haven't seen before. I don't like his haircut, though.

I think DC is doing this to test the waters and see if they can find other unexpected smash hits, like Harley Quinn and to a lesser extent, Batgirl. With those two books, they tried totally different things than what they were normally putting out, and it paid off for them. I think they're looking for that type of success across their line. We'll see how it works for them.

I admit that I don't care for the costume design changes, but I applaud DC for taking chances and looking to appeal to different demographics and new fans as opposed to just the same old people who've been reading forever. Believe me, I understand the importance and loyalty of decades old long time readers, but you can't live on them alone (or you shouldn't), and I think a broader range of people in comics fandom will do it good.

Yea, Snyder has refused to state definitively whether Bruce will still be Batman post-Convergence.
