Default Blackest Night Question

I'm reading Green Lantern Blackest Night for the first time. Several issues into the trade, in the issue Parrallax Returns Part 1, all of a sudden we see Blue Lantern Flash and some other new characters. There's no explanation for it, all of a sudden they're just there with Hal, Atrocitus, Sinestro and the others. I'm wondering where I missed their introduction. Was it in GLC?

No ,It's in the main Blackest night book ,and it's pretty essential the main book , you can't understand the full story of blackest night without it. The introduction of the deputies and the ending are in the blackest night book.there's quite a lot of stuff that weaves from gl into blackest night.
Blackest night GLC isn't essential it just tells the tale of how the glc suffered during the blackest night and all that,so if you're not that bothered about guy or kyle and the rest of the corps it's not worth it , still some pretty cool stories though.

It's not very well collected. There are (to my knowledge) 6 collected trades if you want the whole story. Blackest Night, Blackest Night: Green Lantern, Blackest Night: Green Lantern Corps, Blackest Night: Tales of the Corps and 2 volumes of Blackest Night: Black Lantern Corps.

The whole thing is a poorly arranged mess and even if you get them all then you're going to be jumping back and forth between books.

You'll have to read the GL trade and the Boringest Night main story to understand the garbage that's going on.

yeah but apart from gl the rest are just tie ins that focus on a particular group of characters, they're not essential they just tell us the story of what happened to them during blackest night.
So if you're just interested in gl you don't have to pick up black lantern corps because it just follows other characters of the dc universe.

If you want the full story and want to know what exactly happened to everyone in the dc universe during blackest night then go ahead buy all the trades , you'll be left with average stories and not much money left in your wallet though.

Only Blackest Night and Blackest Night: Green Lantern are truly necessary though.

Yeah, and the ending makes it all unworth it.

All events end in a pretty unremarkable way. Blackest Night was pretty cool though. Y'all just love breaking back into your Blackest Night hating mode.

I haven't read a single issue of GL since Boringest Night ended.

It killed my interest.

War of the Green Lanterns was pretty sweet. Looking forward to the aftermath issue. Besides that you havent missed too much. A lot of interactions with the different entities.

Are you going to get any after the reboot?

War of the Green Lanterns didn't interest me.

I may or may not pick up the reboot in trade.

Question Blackest Night Help Please?

Pardon the comment on a "stale" thread, but it seems the most logical place to ask. Some of us are still catching up with the cosmos after all.

The Blackest Night checklists still up on the DC web site give reading order through BN #6 and its clones. The series ran on for a bit after that, as we all remember.

Picking up, therefore, in January 2010, there's not a reading order available any more. 'Cause even if you buy the trades, they're all mixed up by title of the source book, not organized by reading order. Can someone please post anew? Thanks.

Here's what I have for December 2009
36 - Blackest Night #6
37 - Green Lantern #49
38 - Green Lantern Corps #43
39 - Blackest Night Flash 1 of 3
40 - Blackest Night Wonder Woman 1 of 3
41 - Blackest Night JSA 1 of 3
42 - Justice League of America #40
43 - Superman/Batman #67
44 - Doom Patrol #5
45 - Booster Gold #27
46 - REBELS #11
47 - Teen Titans #78
48 - Adventure #5 [new series]
49 - Outsiders #25

Basically. Unfortunately half the members on this green latern forum voice their opinions far too negatively, and on a series they supposedly love. It gets really old. Blackest Night wasnt bad at all, and there are far worse series the haters could be bitching about. Flame on.

That's why I don't got the whole story at all. I've read the GL BN Paperback (read it) and I have the regular Blackest Night PB Volume at home, but haven't read it until now. Now I know why some storyparts seemed so uncorrelated.... >____>

But overall I liked the whole the dead are rising story, it was ok.

Many thanks. More useful than you will ever know.

Not sure how anyone else stores their comics, BUT...all of mine are in mylar bags with backer boards; some still have the store price tags on the outsides of the bags and (I can't believe I'm saying this) I am putting little dot tags on the bags too, in the upper left corner, right over the DC logo. I use an abbreviation for story arc and the number the book appears in the sequence. I can pull all of the books of an arc and read them in order, then refile by title when done. Anybody else do this?

Also finally had to graduate my inventory to an Excel spreadsheet, on which I show both title/number and the story arc/reading order. Egad! I thought this was supposed to be fun!!!

I don't categorize by arc (not sure if I could figure that out, but it makes sense), but I do everything else you do.

I actually do store/categorize by story arc, but I don't create a spreadsheet. I notice I rarely go back and read comic more than once or twice nowadays.

I got mine packed in mylar-like bags with backer boards for the regular comic books, but since I'm reading us-comics not that long, I've got a lot of that paper backs and hardcovers from DC which collect the issues in a specific order. But I think I wouldn't catalogue the stories or reading orders. But maybe I'll start this, when I've got a lot more books, don't know
