Default How would you "FINISH" off Simon Baz

If you were the writer of Green Lantern how would you "END" Simon Baz?

I wouldn't. Ending a character is easy, making a character interesting is hard.

Oh and its how would you "FINISH" off simon baz. The reason I asked this is because I read that he should be killed off in so many threads, so it seems kind of a popular thing to want to do.....But how?

I wouldn't kill him. I would make him the most popular Earth Lantern.

I'd give him to Ron Marz. He could fix it.

I'd have him in a story fighting a low level thug where his ring runs out of power. The thug would shoot him.

In the face.

Personally, I would make it so the ring recognizes that he isn't the rightful user and flies off into space... while he's 150,000 feet in the air.

I don't need to kill him, but I need him to not be a GL.

I have a question for the Baz haters. I'm asking this because I haven't read a story with him in it, so I really have no interest one way or the other concerning the character.

Would you say you hated Kyle more when he was first introduced or Baz?

I actually don't hate Baz I'm mostly just indifferent towards him. I have yet to be given a reason to care about him one way or the other and he's barely shown up in Justice League of America.

Given the "prophecy" in GL #20, you need to keep Simon Baz for a while. I would keep him in the JLA for the next two or three years. Given how Simon is a wanted criminal in America, I don't want him to lose the ring while still on Earth. Maybe he can go to another planet and become a "post-GL" we all forget about.

I'm trying to remember what interactions that Hal and Simon have had that lead him to trust him with his family's safety. I know there was some interaction when Baz found Hal and Sinestro in the "Dead Zone", but that didn't seem like much. Was that it? Hal is acting like he knows him well...

Easily Baz, and I don't really hate him, but there isn't a need for him. We already have 4 Earth GL's and two don't get enough solo time. When Kyle was introduced, there was a need for him as the last GL... and I never hated Kyle, I just hated what they did to Hal.

Now that you remind me, killing him isn't enough. His ring has to go away. Either it gets destroyed, returned to the Corps, it needs to stay out of play. I don't want the next asshole writer to get the idea to use it to give to yet ANOTHER new human.

Actually, I kind of like the idea that Simon's ring runs out of power or flies off his finger JUST before he is detained by the US government. He gets a black bag thrown over his head and sent to Guantanamo Bay for the rest of his life. Nobody ever gets him out because nobody remembers him or cares enough to bother. It could be a running joke in the books.

Same here. I quite enjoyed Kyle's run as GL, I just hated the way that Hal was thrown under the bus to make room for him (not to mention the fact that TPTB also seemed to decide that Alan and Guy both had to lose their rings as well, even though they weren't Corps rings, and John got shafted by being entirely forgotten during ET and mostly sidelined after that).

Well said that man.

Hopefully Baz's existence will be wiped when the 'New 52' is re-booted back to the Classic Universe.

Simon Baz should die in the line of duty. Now that he has added responsibility of defending the Jordan household in Coast City, all it's going to take is a behind-the-lines attack by the Durlans. In the ideal scenario, Baz would fall (a massive explosion would be nice), his ring (which, remember, used to be Sinestro's ring and malfunctions due to "error") would be knocked off his disintegrating hand, fly through the air and land in the hands of Howie Jordan, Howie would light up and clean the villain's clock, then he'd turn it in to Uncle Hal in a poignant and dramatic reunion scene.

Maybe there could be a call in vote in the comics like when they killed off Jason Todd. Sinestro could beat him down with a crowbar.

If anyone should die it should be Kyle. That's why I read that issue of Injustice over and over again.

The whole thing about "prophecies" -- if some writer said 10 years ago that something was going to happen, then according to many fans, by God it had better happen.

Well, my perspective isn't so much that the prophecy BETTER be fulfilled, but rather that if it isn't, spouting the prophecy in the story in the first place was a cheap gimmick that shouldn't have been used.

There are exceptions, of course. Qull's prophecy in the Alan Moore story worked because part of it WAS fulfilled, but in such a way that knowledge of the prophecy was the reason it was, which cast serious doubt on whether the other part of the prophecy was genuine, or simply window dressing or further attempts at manipulation.
