Seemed like we could use a thread for those bizarre or funny news stories a few of us post that don't seem to fit anywhere else and which probably don't deserve individual threads. So, here it is.

And to get the bat ball rolling...

Holy smokes! "Batman" nabs suspect for British police

LONDON (Reuters) - A mystery man dressed as Batman demonstrated the same crime-fighting skills as the caped crusader when he handed over a suspect wanted for burglary in Britain.
Closed-circuit television footage showed a portly figure wearing an ill-fitting costume including gloves, cape and mask, bringing a 27-year-old man to a police station in Bradford in northern England.
The suspect was arrested and charged with handling stolen goods and fraud-related offences, said the force. But the costumed crime-fighter disappeared into the night without leaving his name.
"The person who brought the wanted man into the station was dressed in a full Batman outfit," said a spokeswoman for West Yorkshire Police. "His identity, however, remains unknown."
The suspect was handed over in the early hours of February 25, said police who released photos of the footage on Monday.

Well at least he wasn't wearing hockey pads
I LOVE conspiracy theorists. They are like human versions of the cymbal clapping, dancing monkeys. No one takes them all that seriously and they get bored with them after about 10 minutes.

Man accused of stealing $19,000 worth of Girl Scout Cookies

We know Girl Scout Cookies are a guilty pleasure, but are they worth committing a crime for?
Christopher Maurice Morton was charged with stealing $19,000 worth of Girl Scout Cookies from a South Carolina warehouse, the Associated Press reports.
The cookies were first reported missing by the owner of Carey Moving and Storage – who reported that 450 cases of Thin Mints and Shortbread were missing after an inventory was conducted on February 26.
Morton, a driver for the business, has since been fired, according to Master Deputy Kevin Bobo, and charged with "breach of trust more than $10,000."
What was the plan? A cookie heist? A Thin Mints bender? Unclear, since Bobo notes that Greenville’s Deputy Sheriff recovered some 352 cases of cookies from behind an abandoned business.
The cookies seem to be too tempting for some: Thieves recently swiped cash boxes from two Girl Scout troops selling the sweet treats in Tucson.

Israeli kids hurt by teachers' name-calling
JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Students at an Israeli high school were in an uproar on Monday after a teacher mistakenly sent them an internal email that spelled out what faculty members really thought about them. "Not too bright", "Liar", "Tactless", "Big Baby", "Anti-social", "Has a thing for boys" and "Sick-o" were some of the descriptions on an Excel spreadsheet that landed in students' email boxes.

Norway teacher fired after children taste her blood

OSLO (Reuters) - A Norwegian kindergarten teacher was fired this week after she brought a vial of her own blood to class and allowed children to touch and taste it, the head teacher of the kindergarten said on Friday. The teacher in Sola, on Norway's western coast, brought in a blood sample that was taken earlier in the day and poured it on a plate for the children, aged between 3 and 6, to see.

New York mother arraigned for hiring strippers for teen's party
(Reuters) - An upstate New York woman pleaded not guilty on Thursday to five counts of child endangerment after other parents complained that she hired female strippers for her son's 16th birthday party. Judy Viger, 33, of Gansevoort, New York, denied the charges of endangering the welfare of a child at her arraignment in the Town of Moreau Court, according to a court spokesperson. If convicted, she would face up to one year in jail.
