  • Artists you'd like to see on GL

Spinning this out of the GL#49 discussion thread, what are some artists you'd like to see on the book?

I think we can all agree that one of the major weaknesses in the current run Tan's inability to not be shit. Venditti's writing while not the best is probably around average, unfortunately he's not getting any help on the art side of things. So assuming we do get a brand new creative team, who would you like to see on the book?

Factoring in my belief that DC won't end up putting a true A-list artist on the book here are my suggestions:
    • Karl Kerschl

    • Mikel Janin

    • Cliff Chiang

    • Jorge Jimenz

    • Barnaby Bagenda

Some other unrealistic options I wouldn't mind seeing would be Dan Mora, Joelle Jones and Doc Shaner.

I don't see the appeal of Doc Shaner and Cliff Chiang

In a perfect world, I get Ivan Reis back. But I'm guessing that glorious ship has sailed.

Tony Daniel is a nice choice, as long as he doesn't do any writing. At all.

I still like easy Ed Benes among the DC crew.

I saw someone mention Doc Shaner - it is different, one of those clean line looks, a bit stylistic, but it looked cool to me in GL: Darkseid War. I could live with that.

Rumors for Rebirth so far suggest we get two GL books, so it will be interesting to see what kind of priority they have for the Emerald corner of the DCU...

              Terrific, YES PLEASE!

Benes is great as well. I so love that era of Justice League.

                \_(ツ)_/¯

And I don't see the appeal of Daniel. Plus if he's drawing he's probably writing as well and I wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot pole.

Yep, he would've been great, instead they kept making him work with Lobdell.

Any of the guys mentioned would work. I've always wanted to see Dale Eaglesham return to the title myself...

Dale seems somehow underrated, I always liked his work a bunch.

Benes is not great. He's a porn artist. Everything is stiff and you'd be hard pressed to find a page of his where his women aren't disfigured and his men are scratchier than the lines used to draw the women's hair.

I actually think we might have a new artist team come GL #51. Here's a conservation Venditti had with a fan on twitter where he dodges a question when asked if his X-O artist, Rafa Sandoval, will be staying on GL past #51.

I haven't seen much of his work but I'm already liking what I see from this cover.

Sandoval would definitely be an upgrade over Tan, I've read some of his X-Men work. I do expect a wholly new creative team come June though.

With Bruce going back to being Batman, Supes getting his powers back, and Wonder Woman going back to her old costume, i'm surprised that Hal hasn't ditched the glove yet.
