Why is everyone getting their panties in a twist? This is all CONCEPT. Which means it's not close to final and will be adapted once they start making the actual suits. Designs that look amazing/shit on paper can look the opposite once made into physical suits.

Let's crap on the project once they actually cast someone and they start filming. Cause you know no matter how hard they work or try, it will never live up to all the fanboy's ideas and expectations.

Well, this is not too suprising. When every superhero movie comes out there are a lot of fans that scream "Why isn't he wearing spandex?! Why isn't he wearing spandex?!" knowing full well that spandex costumes look really really REALLY bad on screen. All of the Superman examples above are not helping, a flying man in tights with underwear outside his pants held up by a belt looks way too ridiculous for real life by any stretch of the imagination.

Other than that, I really don't think it looks like any of Kyle's costumes. I like the death star Oa though.

Actually, those pics help prove my point. The spandex look is out. Superman the Movie from the 70's and Lois and Clark in the early 90's? BAD examples.

Even the live action Flash series with John Wesley Shipp was better with that suit. Not going totally spandex, but also not the best looking either. Still, better than spandex, with leotards or underwear.

I can only imagine what a Batman movie would look like if his costume was spandex. oh wait, I don't have to imagine:

Personally, I think the Flash tv series costume looks fine. My favorite behind the Spidey suit.

            Yo.

aside from the other things wrong with the show, I personally HATED JWS's costume on this show:

and I dont remember any1 crying about a hero NOT wearing spandex, inasmuch as Ive seen them voice umbrage about the LOOK of the outfit. personally I think the same material that went into the FF-outfits:

can be used for a GL-outfit, and itll be an improvement over this:

            or these:

            and lastly, this:

Every Batman board I have been to has always had a few morons that hate the entire movie franchise because Batman is not wearing bright grey tights with underwear on the outside. Even though someone looking like that would get shot on their first night out. Or really any time they appear in public.

And Superman, no matter how many lives he saved or how many meteors he stopped this week, would be the laughing stock of the whole city of Metropolis. If not the world. People would commit crimes just in the hopes that Superman would appear so they could make fun of him.

And the Fantastic Four uniform looks is a decent idea. That is pretty much they way they went with the sinestro corps uniforms. But any movie with the hero wearing a brightly colored spandex suit will turn people off to the idea real quick. And the idea is to draw in new fans, not give them something new to make fun of.

The sad truth is, in the comics they actually wear the spandex. But it looks fine when drawn by the right people. It just doesn't translate well on screen at all. It's painful to admit but the Adam West Batsuit looks exactly like the original from his first appearance. Again, prime example of how it worked in the comics, but not in real life.

The biggest draw for me about Hal Jordan was his original costume. It was original and very different from other superheroes, particularly the part of the suit where the green comes to a point on his shoulders and arms. I like the movie concept designs, but some of the original has to be incorporated. However, the original designs can be used in the film without any drastic changes what so ever. Take for example the Spiderman movie suits. It carried well on film with out many changes at all and remained true to the original source.

                  Leonidas:

The world will know that free men stood against a tyrant, that few stood against many, and before this battle was over, that even a god-king can bleed.

I don't dig the costume redesign. No need for it.

I know this is concept art and it is early, but I'm worried about the fact that the costume design occurs in all those pieces of artwork

                        I have got FANTASTIC news!

As reported by Mania.com HERE, the movie's actual designer will be AARON SIMS (The Incredible Hulk, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, and the upcoming The Spirit)!

The concept art posted in this thread is from some dude named Brian Murray, so the good news is that Murray did NOT get the job to design for the film!

The bad news? The fact that Aaron Sims might not necessarily respect the costumes from the comics, either. This is, after all, the same man that radically redesigned the look of Hulk villain the Abomination, earning himself much grief from fans of the character's comic book look.

Still, I'll cross my fingers, pray for DC Comics and Warner Brothers to intervene and insist that Hal's costume stay true to its classic comic book look as much as possible while still looking good on screen, a la the Spider-Man suit from Sam Raimi's films, and I'll wait to see what Aaron Sims comes up with once we finally get a look at his creations for the film.

Y'know, I, personally, thought the Abomination looked MORE kick-ass then his comic book counterpart. On that note, this is HOLLYWOOD. Of course they'll take liberties. Every superhero movie did.

I've personally never read the Hulk comics, even though I consider myself a Hulk fan. But I'm a fan because I grew up on the TV series with Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno, and also the classic Incredible Hulk cartoon that aired on Saturday mornings in the 1980s. So I was okay with the Abomination's redesign. But many die-hard comic fans weren't.

But again, I have yet to read the Hulk comics, even though I'm reading the new spin-off series Skaar: Son of Hulk. So I had no attachment to the comic book design for the Abomination.

                              Consept Oa...

Looks to me like a smash mash of V.E.G.E.R from Star Trek The Motion Picture and shots of Cybertron from Bay's Transformers. Not really feeling it especialy with the circuit board looking clouds.[/COLOR][/B]
If the clouds looked more like clouds then I would be ok with it. I always thought Oa in a movie would look more like Corusant from Star Wars but more green.

Well, you don't have to worry about it, because, as I mentioned above, the artist that painted those pics did NOT get the job as designer for the movie. So his version of Oa will (hopefully) never be seen on the big screen, which is just as well... I didn't like his version of Oa very much, and as for his GL costume design... well, that was just SACRILEGIOUS. So, good riddance to bad rubbish, I say!
