              • Superman Beyond Faces the Heat
Superman has always been a force for good in the world, saving the planet from the most lethal and destructive forces imaginable. That’s who he is, and even in the futuristic world of Superman Beyond, it hasn’t changed. But starting with tomorrow’s exciting SUPERMAN BEYOND #11, he’s going about it in an entirely new way.

After decades in the public eye as the world’s most famous super hero, the Man of Steel is taking on a new secret identity and a new career. Introducing Kal Kent, Metropolis’ newest firefighter.
Someone really liked that one issue of Action Comics...

                • ^Yeah, I flipped through that issue and it's a hot mess, the storyline-ripping notwithstanding. It's three storylines combines into one issue that's never consistent in their placement.

Well isn't that due to it being a digital book first and the hardcopy collecting multiple digital chapters? I'm not trying to defend the book's quality or anything since I certainly don't read it but that probably does contribute to the cohesiveness of each paper issue.

Touching on Action Comics a bit since we're nearing the end of Morrison's run and all I can say that while the book has had it's ups and downs I still think that with a better more consistent artist we would consider it to be a worthy precursor to All Star Superman. The delays and fill ins due to Morales' problems really torpedo'd this books potential. Looking at that variant cover I really wish they had gotten Fiona Staples on the book from the start:

Though I suppose her involvement with Saga probably would've prevented that from happening...

One of the things I've enjoyed most about the book is that Morrison just flat out refuses to acknowledge the idea that Superman is too powerful. How do you write a character with his power level? You up your game and come with better villains and he does it in a nonchalant way, like it's no big deal for him to be facing villains that can attack him from multiple points in the time stream. Kick ass.

                    • Eddie Berganza Takes The Superman Books Back
Earlier this year, Eddie Berganza was demoted from Executive Editor at DC Comics to Group Editor at DC Comics. A number of people believed his days were numbered at the publisher, but more reliable sources noted that Berganza and Editor-In Chief Bob Harras had formed quite a bond.

One of the announcements made at DC yesterday was that Berganza would take over editing all the Superman books. Of late they have been split among a number of people, with Matt Idelson as Group Editor, but Eddie editing Superman, Matt Idelson editing Action Comics (and the upcoming Man Of Steel), Will Moss editing Supergirl, and Chris Conroy editing Superboy.

Now it seems all these books will be edited under Eddie Berganza’s watch. As for Matt Idelson? Maybe we’ll find out later, when a few people are over their hangovers.

I didn't really enjoy it all that much. The love story is sweet, with a BRUTAL finish, but as someone who's never enjoyed a Mxy story, this one won't be changing that any time soon.

At least the art was consistent!

                              • Really? Personally I thought that this was the first truly special issue of the run and your right the art being consistent played a huge role in that. Some thoughts:
                                1. Given what we know about 5th dimensional imps and liquids I'm assuming that Myx was in the alcohol that Clark drank and that Ms. Nyxly is in the blood on the Superman t-shirt.
                                2. Ms. Nyxyl mentions 233 worlds and how the multitude meets resistance on 2 of them...wonder what happened to the other world.
                                3. I wouldn't be surprised if the Nothingcoat turned into the Phantom Zone. I assume the Imaginator is that hyper adaptor type creature we see on the cover of #17 or perhaps it's how Superdoom was created.
                                4. I wanna go reread Crisis Times Five now.
                                5. Nice to see the reference to For Tomorrow.
                                6. Can someone please tell me what Blue Kryptonite does?
