  • JJ Abrams to be the Kevin Feige of the DCCU?

    Could be!

I'm not JJ's biggest fan but I think he'd probably be a step in the right direction.

We all know that DC desperately needs someone to fill the Feige role, and I think at least you and I agree thqt it shouldn't be Johns.
Abrams is usually a solid choice, but there's something at the back of my brain that worries me. Didn't he have this insane Superman pitch years ago? Would that be the direction of his DCEU?

Found it. Superman Flyby mixed Superman lore with alien conspiracy bullshit, Luthor was both a government agent and a secret Kyptonian, and everything was tied together artificially in mind boggling ways.

      Pass.

Oh my lord! I never realized what a huge bullet we dodged! Man, maybe I DON'T want him overseeing the DC cinematic universe!

I dunno if he'll be in the Feige role but I'd be shocked if he's not directing a DC movie, probably either Superman or GL.

I bet he directs Superman, while in a producer capacity on GL/GLC. WB should be aware that their flagship character is in sore need of elevating.

I mean... they do, right? Right?

WB/DC needs a solid plan moving forward with what's going on. And I'm betting they wait to see how the Marvel movies continue forward with how Endgame left that film universe. Are Aquaman and Wonder Woman really going to be the only characters moving forward from the Snyderverse with everyone else either being in a separate world or recast?

I hate to say it but a Flashpoint adaptation could *fix* the movieverse and recasting wouldn't be as much of an issue. Aquaman and Wonder Woman could still be used in the story as they should be, and even the kids from SHAZAM could show up again!

With James Gunn attached to DC/WB stuff as well as cosmic Marvel, it's only a matter of time before he comes along with something for GL/GLC himself. He directed Brightburn already and that's the evil Superman knockoff everyone seemed to dig. WB needs to find that bit of untapped potential to bring a movieverse together, because they shot the wad trying to set up BOTH Darkseid and the Legion of Doom in JL 1.0.

Doing a major continuity fix in-story only a few movies into the DCEU can only do far more harm than good, I'd wager.

Unless they play it real big. Like include some of the TV stuff too. Make it so that when the movie is over, there is only 1 DCEU and everything movie and TV alike is happening in that universe going forward.

Gunn didn't direct Brightburn. He only produced the movie, David Yarovesky (The Hive) directed it.

WB really doesn't even NEED to do something in-story... the actors for Bruce Banner AND War Machine were replaced after the first couple films rolled out and nobody really cared. Since its Aquaman and WW though, and a Shazam movie has already happened.... Flashpoint could basically write itself and WB could replace actors where needed. The new Hal could cameo, the next Superman, they could throw Cyborg a bone and use him too....

I knew he had a hand in it. I also guessed how it would end awhile back when I heard the synopsis.

People always talk about Flashpoint rewriting the DCEU as if Flashpoint itself was a good story. lol How anyone could have confidence in a studio that has yet to make a great superhero movie without Nolan, can now make a time travel/different dimension type movie work is crazy to me. Plus, its getting to the point where there are so many Marvel movies that eventually we'll just throw our hands up in the air and say "Marvel did first." like they're The Simpsons.
