Since I didn't get a chance to see this thread until after it was locked up, I wanted to add my 2 cents.

As a die hard Hal fan since the 70's, the 90's Kyle was just an inept pretender (and I want to stress that this, and the rest of this drivel, is only my opinion). The Kyle today is actually fun to read about. I look forward to his involvement in GLC every month. It has nothing to do with Kyle Rayner. It has everything to do with his writers.

I argue that everyone "won" the Hal vs. Kyle debate, as Hal is back and Kyle is still a vital piece of the Green Lantern puzzle. I do agree that those debates do make the fans look bad. And today, it really does. Hate Geoff Johns all you want, but he's driving the GL ship, so to speak, and he's made both characters confident, self-assured, and *GASP*, heroic. I'd rather read stories about those types of characters, as opposed to some douche-nozzle whining about his relationships, losing his ring all the time, and having a guest star pop up every few issues just to remind us all how awesome he is.

Sidebar: another thing I just don't get is all the negativity surrounding Geoff's approach to the DCU. Maybe I am just a simpleton who is just along for the ride, trying to find enjoyment out of comics instead of finding reasons to hate them. If there is one constant about comic book universe(s), is that things change. A GL retcon here or there (or any retcon) may "change" a story from "X" amount of years ago, but it doesn't detract from my enjoyment of a story.

I read this message board sometimes, and I think two things...

1.) What an awesome amount of knowledge exhibited by a lot of these posters.
2.) Lighten the F up.
