bioware montreal should just do a whole new i.p and let mass effect end

Good. He was responsible for the crappy ending of ME3.

actually that was mac walters who did the whole mcguffin thing.............. i liked the extended cut ending but i think the fanbase would not have been so pissed if leviathan was part of the key story instead of dlc since that explains the whole mcguffin

I heard it was EA who was responsible for that, trying to rush the game out the door instead of setting up the whole "dark matter" plot point they'd been building to and hinting at. Regardless of whether or not Hudson might've been responsible for that, he was definitely responsible for 2 3/4 of one of the best damn video game series of the last decade. So, yeah, I'm sad to see him go.

            • I still haven't finished that first game. At this point I should just skip it.
I LOVE conspiracy theorists. They are like human versions of the cymbal clapping, dancing monkeys. No one takes them all that seriously and they get bored with them after about 10 minutes.

A pox upon your house! but seriously, that's what I did initially; started off with the second game and went back to the first later.

Nah, Mass Effect is definitely worth playing even if it is old.

                      • Pretty much how I felt after losing about 4 hours to Civilization V last night. Motherfuckin' Persian empire is dominating the Industrial Era, though, son! I've completely wiped out the dirty Monguls, fucking Ghenghis Khan kept messing with the bull...the dirty mongul finally got the horns.

Do you have to play the first ME game to feel like you haven't missed anything? I have part 2, but haven't played it yet because I don't want references and things to go over my head.

To get the entire experience and pick up on a lot of the references, yeah you should definitely play the first one. The beginning of the second one doesn't mean a whole lot unless you've seen what happens in ME. You might be able to get what you need, watching the YouTube clips of all the cutscenes though.

Cool, thanks. Is this series really worth playing, I mean groundbreakingly good? I know Tazz speaks highly of it.

Groundbreakingly good? I wouldn't say the game broke any sort of ground. It's a lore-deep, Sci-FI RPG, that in my mind took all the elements BioWare had introduced throughout the years and brought it to space. And did so in a fresh way. They sort of did that originally with KOTOR, but Mass Effect did it better IMO. The universe feels fresh, and the characters are mostly engaging and interesting.

If you've played BioWare RPGs before, then it's a must play simply because it's up there with their other great series. If you enjoy Sci-Fi epics, then I'd say it's a must play as well.

Just know that the game engine is vastly different between ME and ME2/ME3. They kind of took any sort of complexity that was in ME and stripped it out, and turned it into more of an action RPG than the first one. Which IMO wasn't a bad thing, it just meant it sacrificed some gameplay complexity for some action.
