Doing another Assassin's Creed with an all male lead is just stupid, especially if you take into account that 48% of all gamers are female.
I'm tired that almost every game-lead is male.

I don't think it's a big deal. Not like there hasn't been a female lead in an Assassin's Creed game. The game is gonna sell regardless of male or female lead. It's nothing more than a cash grab at this point anyway.

it does tickle me to note that "Casual/ Social Games" & "Puzzle, Board Game, Game Show, Trivia, Card Games" count, which means that theyre including flash games U can play in a browser *and* that stuff U can d/l onto yur phone; I personally dont consider ANY of that "gaming", but merely "recreation".

becuz reading this post actually spurred me into digging up some facts, I'll share this: http://www.theesa.com/facts/pdfs/ESA_EF_2014.pdf

They said that building a new female character would have almost doubled the size of the game's code. Claiming that modeling the figure, the cloth animations (I assumed they were thinking dresses or something stupid) as well as a estimated 8000 unique combat animations for the character would have bloated the game to an unreasonable size for consoles.
Let me point this out for those who haven't played it. The PS-Vita Assassin's Creed III tie in game "Liberation" included a playable female Assassin named Aveline. 99% of her combat animations were cloned from Connor she had very few unique moves. Only her walking, running and Idle animations were Unique to the character.
So for Ubisoft to make this kind of frankly stupid statement in a era where gamer's know more about how games are made than the pizza their eating, is about the most shameful thing I have heard come out of a corporation's mouth since Nintendo claimed, that adding same sex relationships into Tomodachi Life was somehow a game breaking bug, and a "Political Statement They Weren't Making".
On that subject I'll just say that in today's world where we have LGBT politicians, CEO's and you know PEOPLE. Claiming that adding a mechanic into a game that just acknowledges their existence and gives players from that community a reason to maybe play your "Life Sim" game might only be a political statement by EXCLUDING THEM.
Now back to my Ubisoft rant,
The fact of the matter is, I'll honestly just lay odds that none of the devs at Ubisoft working on this game even thought about having a female lead or any playable female characters in this game because well...Its the culture. Games seem to have to go out of their way to include female leads. And no I'm not jumping on the whole all game devs are sexists thing, I just honestly think that when a game dev sits down to write down his first ideas for a new game it's 99.95% of the time they write about a guy.
Again I'm not claiming direct or even knowing sexism. It's culture, Men by instinct assume that if there is fighting and the like to be done Men should be the one's doing it. If you really look at the number of Female lead characters in gaming you only have a handful who aren't more than token characters in token games published by companies to quiet the press for more women who don't look like cheap tricks, and 85% of the time that fails.
Laura Croft, Samus Aran, and Female Shepard (Mass Effect), are the only "Playable Main Characters" that come to mind, as strong in their own rights and not just T&A for fanservice. In the case of FemShep, 99% of her dialogue is shared by MaleShep with only a few alterations. It shows at least to me that Strong Female Characters can be written in a "Male Voice" as it were and you would hardly notice the difference today. But male game devs, and often female game devs tend to fall into this trap as well, they begin their ideas with "There is this guy see who.." and the trap is set and sprung all at the same time.
Again before someone jumps down my throat I'm not saying its overt it isn't. It's mindset and culture that still has us seeing in our fantasy the White Knight as it where out so save the princess. Let us not forget .. In Super Mario Brothers II Princess Peach was a better playable character than Mario, Luigi or Toad in that game. Her Hover/Float Ability was unique, and her inclusion was lauded as a "Entry for young female gamers" Where the "Girl" can be the hero. We need more of that. More women would be playing AAA game titles if more of them had lead characters in them they could identify with. I'm not saying to strip men out of the lead role all together. But if more games gave players the choice to play as a female character as Mass Effect and others have, there might be a larger participation of women in that arena of gaming.

I had a very similar thing: got a strep infection in my replaced knee. Nasty business, but good thing they're taking care of you. Glad you have wireless access (assuming you are not beeming these posts directly from your brain).

Nintendo,
Oh where do I begin with Nintendo. I don't think they will ever give in on the handheld market which they dominate but as far as Home Consoles, 2016 or 2017 Reggie and Iwata are going to be on Sony and or Microsoft's stages announcing Next-Gen Mario on the PS4 and Xbone.
Over all this years E3 was a ho hum event. Nothing jumped out at me saying Next Gen is truly here. I know the power the PS4 and Xbone have in them hardware wise, and yet not a single game looks as good on these systems as PC games looked 5 years ago. This is a sad state of affairs in console gaming and it proves that the term "PC Master Race" isn't going to be dying anytime soon.
PS4 and XB1 can't even run games in 1080p yet, that's already old news on PC. The problem was that they couldn't release beast machines like the PS3 and 360 were, it would have cost too much and times are hard for a lot of people, 600 dollar consoles aren't going to sell. That's why this new generation will be far shorter than the last. 5 years I give it. By then the parts will be cheap enough that they can actually release consoles that can match a mid range PC from 2012 and run games in 1080p 60fps etc.
As for what's going to happen in the handheld market, I'm not so sure Nintendo are safe in that. Not because they can't produce quality games, I just think phones and tablets have fucked the market for them. The Vita was a disaster I can't see Sony bothering again, and the 3DS while it rebounded has been falling like a rock recently. Not good signs for future dedicated handhelds.
Sorry to hear you're in hospital, hope you get better soon. Oh and I finally watched Unicorn. Not sure what to make of that last episode but that's another topic.

However I paired my Galaxy S3 with a PS3 controller via OTG cable and it works great. I might even buy a MOGA controller. So yes, handhelds may be dying, but phone games need to get better than the usual Gameloft crap.
Thumbs up for Rockstar and Square-Enix for releasing their classic games on smartphones. (Why can't I install Chrono Trigger on my S3?)

I'm not a fan of playing games on my smartphone. The battery life on my s4 is crap, so I don't even like playing Candy Crush Saga because it drains the hell out of the battery. I recently downloaded Yugioh's YGOPRO and every game I play, it drains at least 3%.
Has anyone played The Last of Us? I haven't been able to put this game down. It's like watching a horror movie, for the most part. The cinematic sequences and the voice work are excellent so far.
