Been advancing the hell out of Crucible in Destiny with my Hunter. I keep hearing how the Weapons Master quest line is glitched, but I'm going to take it as far as I can until the weekly Crucible bounties unlock. Right now I only need to do four matches with at least six hand cannon kills. I didn't much like the auto rifle portion, found the pulse rifle one to be a lot of fun (mostly because I was using the insanely-beastly Bad Juju), and hated the scout rifle part.
For the hand cannon, I was going to use The Last Word, as it's fully leveled and I just got the Jolly Holiday/Chaperone quest, but after doing some reading, to hell with it. You lose so much progress with every death that it isn't even remotely realistic to do the quest legit, especially with the nerfs to shotguns and special ammo that would otherwise give you some defense against the progression losses per death.
Instead, I'll try The Vanity. Was going to use Imago Loop but I don't much like it either. Ace of Spades won't help much either. Vanity has a good bit of stability, which I'll need to land the shots.
Also, I got myself a surprising Exotic: Super Good Advice at 310 light. Can't believe it. I keep hoping for Jade Rabbit, which would frankly be much better than SGA (middling in PvE and horrid in PvP), but I don't think I'll dismantle it just yet.

I am surprised by his top pick, because I just wasn't expecting it. When the name popped up, though, I found myself totally agreeing with him, and have to add those particular enemies have only gotten more frightening.

Among a number of other things (details to come later), I popped into the current Iron Banner in Destiny real quick with my Hunter to clear out a bunch of bounties and get some high-level drops.
13 kills and 10 deaths in one match. Probably the best I've ever done in Crucible overall, and that was using The Vanity as my primary, and it isn't especially high in light level and its perks are half-locked still.
Fuck yeah.

Finished the hand cannon kills portion of the Weapons Master quest step, now I guess I have to wait for the final portion of the overall chain to be handed to me (probably weekly reset).
With my Warlock, somehow got 18 kills and 11 deaths in one match, but then I somehow lost a 329 Tormod's Bellows (I know it was award to me, but it never appeared in my inventory or postbox). Bullshit.
And like usual, I got killed fighting that fucking ogre Baxx during the daily Lost to Light. Even at 319 light, I got killed. I'll have to try to snipe him down and then use my Stormtrance on the additional enemies and then refocus on Baxx. I never die while fleeing, at least, so as long as I can get him down during the initial fight, I'm sure I can get the rest of the mission done and get Black Spindle.

If your post master is full, then yes you lose whatever item goes to it. The postmaster can hold 20 items at a time.
If you can get online in the next few minutes i can help you with your spindle.
I don't know how I did it (mostly the Tempered buff, my Wolfswood cloak, and turning in bounties), but I made it from rank 3 to rank 5 with my Hunter in just a few hours of IB. Got a few decent drops among the load of crap they give you. And I have even less an idea how, but I managed to also get about 3 sword kills with my Dreadfang for a grand total of 11 Guardian kills (should play Crucible more, and it'll be easier and less infuriating now that IB is over).
Been dumping my bounties' experience points into some extra items, especially Hawkmoon (thanks, Xur). Unlocked the Luck in the Chamber perk. I'll be using this bad boy during the patrols for my regular bounties, and maybe in vanilla Crucible; same goes for the ATS Spider helmet.
Also ranked up my Crucible in the process, but eh. Due to a storm in my area, can't get in one last match, and I'll be turning in soon as it is.
Warlock - 319
Hunter - 315
Titan - 310
Not bad.

There's a 150% tempering buff on the last day of iron banner, so combine that with the cloak, emblem, and shader you can potentially get 400% of extra xp. next time there's an iron banner, use this website www.ironbanner.info. it'll help you calculate how many matches you need to play to get to rank 5.
And if you think Hawkmoon is good now, you should've been around for year 1. It's been nerfed to shit. The original was amazing.
