Kind Hearts and Coronets (1949)
"He says he wants to go to Europe to expand his mind.
-He certainly has room to do so."
British black comedy. When a duke's daughter marries a common Opera singer, she's disinherited and raises her son to expect the dukedom. His solution is to knock off all 8 in line before him, which are all (including one woman) played by a pretty young Alec Guinness. Fun.

Wish universal would color them and restore them if thats the right word. Im not suggesting special edition it like star wars but clean them up a little bit with the audio and soundLast edited by Space Cop; 07-31-2021, 03:41 AM.

Batman: The Long Halloween (Parts 1 & 2) (2021)
Definitely one of the filmatic highlights of this year, and one of my favorite Batman stories to be written, I had forgotten most of the story line before I watched part 1 (we are talking MANY moons ago that I read these comics), but I do recall it mostly centered around Harvey Dent. I don't necessarily like or understand why DC splits these stories into 2 segments when they could just as easily make a feature film with an extended length, but whatever, I still enjoyed it. DC still has the upper hand over Marvel in animated features.
I was surprised to see some of the names associated with the characters..Jensen Ackles (of Supernatural fame) played Bats and someone who was NOT Mark Hamill (but sure passed for him) played the Joker, but they all meshed together well. And the slight deviations from the original story were welcomed. Again, I don't remember much of the details but I do remember feeling very satisfied after reading such a wonderful story. I don't remember Selena being part of the story to the extent she was in the film, but it was nice to see Bats together with her. And the ending was beautiful.

I actually own the 2 and a half hour versions of both The Dark Knight Returns and The Death and Return of Superman (as those two films were retitled to the Classic title when combined). They are far superior viewing experiences, and are actually why I'm waiting for the extended singular version of The Long Halloween to finally see it.Do good. Be well. Make happy.

Non-idealistic character drama about a Dominican immigrant playing baseball and trying to find himself. Essentially a non-sports movie sports movie, as baseball is less the focus and more the frame within which the titular character tries to find his place. Though fictional, the story actually feels more realistic than most sports movies that are based on true stories, as the understated acting of the lead makes him seem more like a real person than a typical protagonist. It's probably not for everyone, but I'm glad I watched it.Do good. Be well. Make happy.

That said, they are always meant as a singular film, and every time they've done it before, they have eventually released a singular film version of it a few months after part 2.

When you buy the extended version, you will know *exactly* where the split is. Do you remember the storyline from the original comic? I'm thinking of digging out my trade just to compare differences.
That's kind of shitty for DC to do that, though...because you know the diehard fan will buy Part 1, Part 2, and the extended version. I would raise a stink about that as a consumer. I mean, yes, it's up to the individual to do as they please, but essentially DC is profiting from you 3 times. Or maybe 2. I can't math right now, I'm about to go to bed.

I watched this yesterday. It's always been on my bucket list of movies to see. I wanted to see where John Boyega got his start before the Disney Trilogy. This was quite a cool film in its own right, and I wouldn't mind seeing a "10 years later-whats happening now" sequel. When you think about it, that wasn't a whole lot of aliens tracking down the female. How about a continent wide phenomenon...interesting thought. And I agree the aliens were very singular in design.

Heavy Metal (1981)
"The U.N. Building. What a joke! They turned it into low rent housing. It's a dump."
40th anniversary. I liked it the first time I saw it, but seemed to appreciate it even more this time. Watching the special features on the blu ray I picked up recently.Last edited by Space Cop; 07-30-2021, 03:25 AM.
