Goddamn, I lost so many hours in college getting drunk and playing Jedi Academy. Got to the point I would pwn fools with my light-to-heavy single saber style. Would slice up all those dual saber and staff users.

Hyperbole, ok, but you have to admit the rules laid down even in ESB and RotJ (let alone the preqs) are blurry to say the least. Yoda tells Luke a Jedi uses the force for knowledge and peace, for defense and not attack but he also tells him he must defeat his own father (and the emperor) and he warns him against even trying to reach him.

So, how was he supposed to do that? By sitting back and learning and waiting for Vader to attack so he had an excuse to fight?

              • By attacking Vader he would be defending the galaxy from a tyrant.

The best defense is a good offense.

in regards to Vader, I think Yoda meant that while he was the only person in a position to defeat him (ignoring Kyle Katarn o'course.........lets hear it for EU-continuity!!) doing so when Luke wanted to go wouldve been a disaster since he wasnt ready.

*dons his Buddhist sash & 6-dot skin cap*

its 1 thing to be ready & prepared to fight, and another to go out looking for one.

But does that work in reverse, best offense is a good defense?
