    • It's for the best. There needs to be an open road for the movies from VI forward.

      • I used to think they were related too. It might be because of the crossovers they've done (like Batman vs. Predator) or it may be something in the tone.

        • In any event, my apologies to you all for the bad information. Doom prides himself on accuracy and this is not acceptable. Somehow, I think Tazer tried to mindwipe me and left the job half ass.

          • Is Marvel going to reboot the comic universe?

That is the question. If they do, it pretty much officially ends the Expanded Universe...which is the last piece of continuity in my book reading life.

              • All the EU fans are f'd in the head if they think the movies are going to respect any EU canon. It won't help them make money. As for the comics, considering how everything is being rebooted as "#1" these days, I don't see Marvel doing anything different.

Pretty funny how getting a new movie is going to completely wipe 20 years worth of EU goodness. Is it worth it Star Wars fans? I don't give a fuck what they say or do, Kyle Katarn and IG-88 4 LIFE.

My gut tells me that they won't necessarily do a "reboot" (thus eliminating the EU) but more of taking a different direction, while leaving what has been established in the EU alone. But at this point, who knows. A year ago, did anyone ever think in their wildest dreams that Disney would own Star Wars?

My money is on some level of reboot. The problem is, between them, Dark Horse and Del Rey have done such a thorough job filling in what all the main characters of Star Wars have been doing that, if they are ALLOWED to do so, I expect Marvel to ignore that, and use those characters (as the most popular and well known) to tell whatever stories they want with them, without being straightjacketed by all that came before from the get go.

Seriously, if you are Marvel, and you start making Star Wars comics now, wouldn't you want to tell stories of Luke, Leia, Han, and those guys? And if you felt constrained to preserve the existing EU, where would you fit those stories in? That wouldn't require your readers to know about a bunch of stuff that some other company wrote over the course many years, I mean?

The only realistic possibility I see for the EU being preserved in Marvel Star Wars comics is if it is preserved in the new movies, and the comics are solely based around the characters and events of those films. I find that highly unlikely as well...

They could do so many good things with Kyle Katarn, Jaden and the Expanded Universe. At the very least, they should make another video game for the Jedi Outcast/Academy fans.

I might give a notion to giving a blowjob to someone, if it got me another Jedi Outcast game. Jedi Academy was a step back for the series, and it was still a fucking awesome game.

I can't even imagine another entry with updated graphics, and with the new physics engines that are out there. Lightsaber battles in those games were so fucking intense, I was one of the top players on the top server for Jedi Academy. I was a fucking jedi master. Miss those days.

                        • I almost never REALLY battled anyone in Academy. I would Force choke the Sith and throw them over a cliff (especially if there were a bunch of them), or Force choke and slash out their guts with my double saber attack. Every now and then, I would use Force Lightning, but that required too much Force power.

I haven't played the game you are talking about, but given the choice, I'd always go Jedi. I never understood wanting to be the bad guys.
