        • That's actually pretty okay for The Gentlemen, considering STX only bought it for 7m. Also 1917 and Bad Boys are so close to 100m.

              • Terrible for The Rhythm Section. At least Gretel & Hansel seems to have been made on a dirt cheap budget. Great holds for most of the holdovers, though. If 1917 wins, it'll be the highest grossing best picture winner since Return of The King.

                      • Is it possible that moviegoers aren't dying to see movies that are written, directed by and starring women, and that show girls kicking ass? If I were a producer, I'd at least consider that possibility.

                        Comment

                        • It's more likely that the lesson will be that R rated films from PG-13 franchises should be reserved for BD extended cuts, as they previously have been. They need to keep the ratings down if they started there in order to get the money from the kids (and the parents thereof) who are part of the audience they've built.
Do good. Be well. Make happy.

                              • Which raises a point. The talk is always about how much a movie earns. But the real issue is how much it earns versus how much it cost to make and publicize.
