I watched the Unification two-parter from my season 5 TNG box set. Hehe, "cowboy diplomacy."

Spock, Picard, and Data worked really well together, and I'm glad Sarek was part of it, too, even though it was his last appearance. I liked the dichotomy of Data and Spock-one grasping as much humanity as possible, one pushing it away. I might just keep watching the rest of the season from here on out.

Tazz, the event was on for that night, and it wasn't only about Shatner. Only a couple of days passed between Nimoy's death and his funeral. I'm sure Nimoy would have supported Shatner about this. One of my best friends is an actor who has told me that the only actor he's ever worked with and didn't like was Shatner, but really, people need to shut the fuck up about this. He made the right call here.

He can't gallivant around the way you probably think he can. And you've probably never even noticed where I live. This is where the film industry is located. Very few actors can make their living only by acting. They have to have other jobs. I've worked with five of them.

On that note, I wonder if Shatner attended James Doohan's funeral. From all accounts they didn't get on well. Certainly if he made it to Doohan's funeral, that would be proof positive to me that he didn't miss Nimoy's services as any kind of intentional slight.

BTW my friend says that Shatner violates the actors code, which is that actors who have made it (as he has) are supposed to give lesser-known actors something to play against in their scenes with him. He plays everything as if it's all about him.

so now your saying charity is a job for an actor? so basicly your suggesting hosting the event is for them and not the person or persons in need? so i guess to you charities like make a wish are just another job because to whoever grants it they get a huge payday

I thought I had heard that, too, but then I read how he refused to participate in an event they were having for Doohan when he was declining, and was having what was going to be his last convention appearance. Everybody else from the cast joined him on-stage (Nimoy didn't, but it was because he had to leave for another event), but Shatner refused, and according to George Takei, did so in a really somewhat offensive fashion.

on howard stern during the whole wedding dispute where shatner lied and said takei never invited him stern offered to play peace maker with the 2 on the stern show and shatner prefered it on his show titled raw nerve. see that to me is very egotistical because youd think if anyone offers help it shouldnt matter where its done at to hash out there issues expecially when they say oh this guy is great hes like my brother. its shit like that makes me question shatners motives. i feel if people just blindy sit by and stick up for the man like he has zero faults in my eyes that makes them look like dickriding fanboys who think this guy is 100% grade a perfect


i can tell guys like smasher if someone i called a brother and worked with them for many years died i would simply cancel everything im doing and go to the funeral wether its a job charity event or ect.

I did an hour's worth of research last night on exactly where the original crew stand with each other, and according to what I read, everyone is pretty much on good terms with each other, Shatner included. James Doohan and Shatner hugged it out at the last convention Doohan attended. Takei and Shatner have battled it out on various platforms, as both men have dominating personalities, but they are now cool with each other. The only possible grudge could be on Walter Koneig's part, but I think that issue has been resolved as well. Shatner was always on good terms with Nimoy and Deforest Kelley, so that's a mute point. As a matter of fact, Nimoy tried to help Shatner's wife who was an alcoholic, having gone through the battle himself. Nimoy drove her to AA meetings.
Also, Smasher makes a good point about funeral timing-I don't know which religion (if any) took precedence over his arrangements, but generally speaking, there is usually a 5 day or so preparation before funeral rights and burial. So it was a rather speedy process that was obviously unplanned.

I don't doubt he's smart. I just don't have a lot of respect for somebody who is smart, and yet still chooses to cultivate that "shock jock image".

he has changed over the last maybe 5 years. he seems to be more serious instead of being funny. as a fan im fine with it because you can only do so much with hooking a midget up with a pornstar or a mentally challenged person with a hooker
