  • The First Ever Custom Figure of Jack T. Chance (That I've Seen, Anyway)! ^_^

I just found out about this last night, from an acquaintance on another messageboard.

A custom figure creator who goes by the name "Batdan" has created the first custom action figure of Green Lantern Jack T. Chance that I have EVER seen!

    More info available HERE!

The most curious thing about it? The commenter that claims it's actually the SECOND Jack T. Chance custom in existence!

Which, of course, begs the very obvious questions, "Where's the first?" and "How come I've never heard about it before?"

And last, but not least, "When the bloody hell is DC Direct going to get around to making an official figure of Jack T. Chance?!?"

Now to set about finding out how I can get my hands on this figure! IT MUST BE MINE!!!

I saw that yesterday actually. It's really good. So are the other ones this guy is doing. Usually I don't like Marvel Legends style customs...but these are pretty nice.

I like it the only problem is the gun, Jack used a pistol not this thing, but that is an easy fix

Especially since the new "Legendary Comic Book Heroes" Marvel Legends-style Judge Dredd action figure comes with 1 Lawgiver Mark I handgun, and 1 Lawgiver Mark II handgun! The Mark II makes a very suitable "hand cannon" to go with a Jack T. Chance figure!

So, when's someone gonna make a JTC custom figure for Yours Truly, eh?

A Jack T Chance custom is on my agenda. But right now I'm working in 3 customs at the same time. And besides the pieces I need for this custom are hard to find.

              I now own a Jack T. Chance figure! ^_^

Well, I am proud to say that at long last, I FINALLY own a custom made Jack T. Chance figure... just not the one this thread is about. I STILL can't find any info about how to get ahold of the figure's creator to buy it from him.

But enough about that... thanks to a hot tip from GLJIMT, I recently won an eBay auction for custom made, one-of-a-kind Heroclix miniatures of 9 of the "Lost Lanterns"! Well... 8 of the "Lost Lanterns" (including Jack T. Chance, natch! ) and GL Corps "newbie" Soranik Natu. But I can't complain about having a miniature of her, I like the character.

Anyway, here's a picture, from the auction, of Jack T. Chance and 2 of his fellow ring slingers:

More pictures to come later. These things are amazing, they look as good as, or even better than, "the Real McCoy"!

Sure, I can post the other 2 photos from the auction, which show the remaining 6 figures... even though you could have just clicked on the auction link in my previous post to see them sooner!

If you click the auction link in my previous post, you can also read all of the custom game stats for the characters. These characters ARE playable in DC Heroclix! But keep in mind that official tournaments do not allow the use of custom-made characters with altered dials.

It's been years since I last played Heroclix. I played when the first couple waves of characters from the Marvelous Competition were out, and before DC characters entered the "field of battle". These figures make me want to get back into it now!

Later this week, I'll take some better pictures with my digital camera, and post them up for all to see! Although... I may post them in a separate thread (except for JTC, who this thread is about) so keep your eyes open.

I now own a Jack T. Chance custom figure (DCD scale)!

Thanks to GLJIMT giving me the heads up about the eBay auction for it, I have just successfully won a custom-made figure of Jack T. Chance!

I do wish he had done a better job on the boots... simply painting the pants leg to try to make it look like a boot looks a little weak compared to sculpting an actual boot on there, but it's not like I could do any better myself... I have ZERO sculpting skills, so it's not like I have the ability to make this figure myself.

I'll post more pictures after he's arrived and I've been able to swap out that weak looking pistol for the Street Judge's Lawgiver Mark II I mentioned in an earlier post!

EDIT: I haven't been to this topic in awhile, so I just realized that I completely forgot to post more pictures of those Heroclix miniatures. I'll have to remember to do that sometime soon.

Someone put a lot of work into that custmization.
I have also thought the new batman TDK joker thug figure sould be easily worked into a Jacj T chance body. Don't know about the head though.

My custom Jack T. Chance is finally 100% complete!

Well, as of today, my custom figure of Jack T. Chance is finally 100% complete and satisfactory!

Gone is that chintzy black gun the eBay seller included (just a black plastic Uzi with the barrel tip cut off) that Jack couldn't even HOLD properly!

And in its place... the Street Judge's Lawgiver Mark II from the Legendary Comic Book Heroes figure of Judge Dredd:

Because of the way that left hand is sculpted, he can't hold it straight out, at arm's length, to point it at a target. But at least he has it in his hand, at his side, ready to bring it to bear on an enemy when the situation requires it, becomes "sometimes, the old ways just work the best!"

The sculptor responsible for that Judge Dredd figure deviated a bit from the established, "official" design of the Lawgiver Mark II, but that just makes it work even better for use with Jack T. Chance, because it really has that nice, manly, "hand cannon" look to it. It looks reminiscent of the Space Marine bolt guns in Warhammer 40K, which can also be said of the gun Jack used in the comic! And Marvel Toys even did a good job on the paint job... well, except for the part where they deviated from the established color scheme seen in the comic. But what they did with this gun makes it absolutely perfect for my needs! Besides painting the grip black, they also added either a black ink wash or a dry brushed layer (I'm having a hard time telling which method they used in this case,) which really brings out the details of the sculpt nicely AND simultaneously makes the gun look weathered and "broken in"... just as it should for Jack T. Chance's favorite sidearm!

Now then... can anyone recommend a good action figure/doll display case I can put this figure in to protect it from dust and damage? Something along these lines...

...that would be the appropriate size for an action figure in that DC Direct/Marvel Legends scale, standing 6-7 inches tall?

All of the ones I find are much too large. They'd work better for large scale figures in the 10", 12", or 13" scales.

The waist support will not be necessary and might possibly damage the hand-painted finish, so I'd prefer one without it. It CAN have a peg to fit into the hole in the figure's foot, because this figure does have the traditional peg hole in one of its feet.
