Thanks! ...and I know how you feel. Quite a few of us feel that way.

Great job on White Lantern Sinestro. The costume they gave him is just awful (not your fault), but you nailed it spot on.
Thanks! I stole the idea from syntaxic and did a litte extra with it. The Bleez took forever to make with all the Dremel and putty work. Good thing I had a bunch of old Spawn pieces laying around otherwise I'd have to make the extras from scratch.

Yeah, the WL Sinestro costume is pretty bad. Perhaps they'll add a little something to it when Hal becomes the WL.

I actually thought about doing that- using the silver metallic that I used for Psycho Pirate. I'm going to wait and see how Sinestro is drawn in the next issue. It's hard to tell if his accent color is going to be gray or silver.

WL's are taking a HUGE hit in the popularity polls.

This the progression for my custom Sinestro Corps Lyssa Drak.

The base figures are Superwoman Lois Lane and Indigo-1. The Superwoman figure is fairly attractive so I thought this would be a pretty good base, even though it doesn't have a widow's peak.

Lyssa Drak is barefoot so I needed Indigo's legs to make this work. To detach the legs, I used the boil and pop technique. I microwaved some water and let the figures sit for a few minutes. You can pull the legs right off without damaging them when they are nice and soft.

I ran into a problem because the legs from Indigo weren't the same size. The holes were too small so I couldn't push the joint pins through so I used my dremel tool and drilled the holes open a bit as you can see with the leg on the left.

I screwed up, drilled too far and the joint snapped. It was an easy fix though with some mighty putty. You can't even tell that it broke.

I detached the cape which left a gaping hole in her chest. I exacto knifed Indigo's chest insignia to put over it since the contour of her boobs would fit, but that didn't work out too well so I ditched that idea.

Next, I needed to make Lyssa's bra thingy. I tried using Mighty Putty, but I couldn't shape it well enough as it dried too damn fast. I ended up using Molding clay that dries by air. This stuff works REALLY well. I highly recommend it for sculpting.

Next, I primed the figure. I've learned that spraying sucks when priming and creates messy blobs so I applied the primer with a brush and avoided the face.

I used Indigo's loin cloth and chopped it up a bit. In hindsight, I should have left it the way it was. I didn't like the way it turned out.

I decided to prime the face which was a BIG mistake. The paint ended up being a bit clumpy. I did use putty to cover the eyes and mouth so I wouldn't have to repaint those. Painting eyes is hard work.

For the book of Parallax, I went to Target and purchased a mini notebook.

I hacked it up so it would be the right size and made it look a bit raggedy so it would appear aged. I used some spare accessories to make the locks on the edges. After a few coats of paint, a few applications and some crazy glue, voila!

I got a cheap gold chain from the art store for a couple of dollars and tied it to the book and on Lyssa's arm with some thin wire.

This is the finished product. The yellow paint sucks. I had to use at least 8 coats just for it to look this good. Even with primer, the yellow just doesn't stick so I needed to apply coat after coat. It was kind of frustrating.

For her Sinestro Corps symbol, I used mighty putty and shaped it with a pen cap so it would be perfectly round. When it dried, I sanded it smooth, painted it white and applied a sticker that I printed out.

I was excited about finishing the figure and ended up forgetting to put on the ring. Duh! I used some more spare figure accessories and exacto knife-forged a ring. It was an easy remedy with paint and crazy glue.

You'll notice that I didn't paint the joints. I avoided that because when you paint them and then bend the arms/legs, the paint cracks off and leaves a big mess.

I made the cape from a spare Batman cape I had lying around. I just made some minor alterations to it so it would fit Lyssa Drak.

Lyssa Drak with her Sinestro Corps bretheren.

While I'm sort of satisfied with this custom, I might do another just to rectify all the mistakes I made the first time around. I just might sell this one to fund the making of another.
