Hey, guys. I'm looking to buy some extra GL Classics Star Sapphires, and try to customize them into OTHER Star Sapphires so I can creates some sort of corps, since the only other one we got is Wonder Woman. Do you guys have any tips on removing the heads from other DCUC or MOTUC female figs, and attaching them? Do they just come off of a ball joint, or do they actually break off if you pull them?

I'm also thinking of doing something similar to make my Sinestro taller.

get blow Dryer and heat it up. Heat and pop. If you want it even more easier boil it in hot water. Might have to drill the head to make it fit or if its to big add some sticky tak inside so its not lose. There are many sites that help here is a link.

Read them. You will get awesome in no time

As for a Star Sapphire corps. Might be hard. Gonna have to get mass Figures.
Ive got 20plus yellow and green. about 8 Red lantern corps members. I think ima tackle Sapphire next. good luck tho!

Nuke a mug of water for 3 mins, let the head soak for 20-30 seconds and just pull it off.

I have other figs in DC Direct style, but I want to make a corps in the DCUC size and style. The bodies can all look like Carol Feris for all I care. I just want different heads. Maybe buy an extra Black Canary or Supergirl, Zatanna, or any number of others.

Since they've only released 2 Red Lanterns in DCUC size (Nite-Lik and Skallox), are the rest of yours customs? I would love to see a pic of your collection.

I agree with XII. Boiling water works best.

If you use a blow dryer and you don't know what you're doing, you take the risk of permanently damaging the figure.

I like to put a pot of water on the stove.....let it boil....drop figure in pot for about 30 seconds....pull out with pliers....grab towel....dry off....grab head and pull....pops off SUPER easy.

Thanks, guys! I have to buy 3 OTHER figures before I can start my SS Corps (I'm trying to complete my C&C Stel), but after that, I'm incredibly tempted to start!

So...boiling a figure doesn't ruin the paint or anything?

Boiling a pot of water on the stove might if you don't know what you're doing. Microwaving a mug of water is better because the temp will slowly lower and you don''t have the high risk of warping the plastic.

I've been customizing for 6 or 7 years now and have never had a problem with nuking a mug of water.

                  1) NO BOILING WATER ON STOVE DOES NOT RUIN PAINT (XII stop saying things you don't know about....the cup of water is actually more dangerous)

The only way you ruin your figure boing in a pot of water is if you walk away and forget about it.

Again...20-45 seconds in boiling water...perfect....I have literally done this on 30+ figures....going to do it today on a BD Deadman that I want to make into a WL.

You'll have to point out where i said anything absolute about it ruining paint bub. I said it might produce problems IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING. Reading is fundamental. For a noob customizer, going the microwave route is best since it's simply easier than boiling water on the stove a leaving a figure in too long. Stop and read what's actually written before you go posting nonsense.

If you want to get down to the nitty gritty, boiling a figure can produce sever problems. Warping is a huge problem if the water is even slightly too hot. I've had figures scorch and burn from hitting the bottom of the pan. And yes paint can become brittle and flake off if you don't know what you're doing. Catching a theme here? Someone who's just learning how to customize should never use extreme techniques. There are far greater risks with boiling a figure over microwaving a mug of water. I would never tell someone who's never done something like this before to put a figure in a boiling pot of water. Common sense buddy.

I've been at this a long time boyo.

So by your own admission you don't know what you're doing! You boil water drop the figure in there, pull it out 20 sec. later. I don't get what YOU think is so hard about it.....is it the counting to 20 part? When you messed it up, what did you do, put it in and go take a nap? I've done multiple figures and never had the issues you've described. When there was a little warping, I threw the fig back in for another 15 sec and put it back where it was.

If you wanted to be ABSOLUTELY safe (I've done this before)....turn on your Hot water in a sink and wait for it to get as hot as possible....let the water run over the fig for 1-2 min and it can work too.

                              Bumping this thread.

Does anyone know how (or know of a step-by-step tutorial) to remove the knee joints of a DC Direct or DC Universe figure? I had an idea for a dymanite custom, but need to perform some minor surgery on a figure for it to work. Any 411 would be greatly appreciated.
