questions about blackest night #2

So i read blackest night and am confused about a few things. the first question probably has a definite answer but the others will probably be just theory/speculation.

Spoilers obviously
1. When hawkman tells atom to "come over" we dont see what happened next and the next time we see hawkman he is attacking hal and barry. what happened? im assuming atom didnt get there after hawkman left because atom has the power to instantaneously travel through phone lines right? will we see what happens in a tie-in?

2. why do you think the black ring didnt work on dove? from the little i know about the character i know hes supposed to be peaceful so maybe black rings only work on those with unfinished business or that are peaceful. but then are we meant to believe that none of the characters we have seen as black lanterns were at peace? why was dove the only exception?

3. the thing with deadmans body reviving and his soul staying seperate. this and the event with the spectre leads me to believe black lanterns are empty shells or puppets that have nothing to do with the soul or actual being of the person they were in life, despite them showing their memories and personality traits. agree? disagree?

I agree with the third one. i guessed that after the first issue. Besides Black Hand, I think all of their spirits are not in their bodies.

I would like to know what was up with Dove, and why the Spectre was able to be corrupted.

I'm wondering about the thing with Dove, too. Are we to believe that he's the only one "at peace" enough not to be corrupted? Superheroes tend to die violent deaths, of course, but they also choose that lifestyle, knowing it will likely happen to them eventually. None of the others are at peace? What about Pa Kent?

All will be explained as the storyline progresses, I'm sure. It's an interesting twist that I hadn't anticipated.

I know you're spit ballin' but that seems a bit of a stretch (if they decided to go with that). I just hope there is more to the explanation. This person's soul is at peace therefore we can't use them yet we're not using their soul at all... too many issues there.

i just thought of a theory of why dove couldnt be chosen. black lanterns are very interested in specific emotions and seem to aim for hearts ripe with a particular one (like hope). maybe the bodies they take after have to have a strong pre-disposition towards a certian emotion over another, such as compassion. maybe doves peaceful nature meant all of his emotions were at equilibrium so a black ring couldnt latch onto his body because no one emotion was dominant. to put it another way black rings are attracted to bodies because of an emotion or two being stronger than the others, but if they are all equal the ring is repelled like magnets of the same polarity

is that too far fetched and complicated?

That was my guess.. there has to be a real thought behind it or they wouldn't have shown it at all. they would have just not brought Dove back
