  • Future's End: Green Lanternverse

I just wanted to ask all of you out there if you will be reading the Future's End Green Lantern tie-ins. From what I saw there will be a tie-in for every book with the exception of Larfleeze (which than God has been canceled by this point). I am also going to be buying th 3-D motion covers for the #1's of this event just to say I have them.

Now as for the event itself I am waiting to see if I will jump on board. The last major crossover events with Flashpoint and Forever Evil haven't really wowed or impressed me at all, but this one has piqued my interest. I like the fact that the Beyond Universe is being brought closer to the "main continuity". I'm looking forward to seeing how it all plays out in the long run. I'd like to see a new member take over as the GL in the Beyond Universe because I've never been a fan of that bald kid. I know that won't happen, but a guy can dream can't he?

What are you guys hopes and expectations for these books?

I just hope that these books will be referenced outside of the Futures End series come October.

Gotta hear the creative teams first. I've already lost interest in the weekly so they are already behind.

I'll pick up any GL titles but default, but I think I'll be reading the main Future's End title in trade only. I'm not familiar with the Beyond universe and I'm tired of post-apocalyptic stories, so it doesn't have a lot of selling points for me.

The "hard reboot" of 2011 with DC 52new was already invalidated by Stormwatch, so I'm seeing "Future's End" as about as valid as Armageddon 2001.

More and more I have to just read each comic line as a separate continuity from all of the others' comics. None of them pay any attention to the others, even in the summer blockbusters (now winter or year-long blockbusters), because each comic line would be advertising the next comic plot three months out while some comic lines were still stuck in the blockbuster plot.

Three years after Flashpoint and Brightest Day, we have universe messed up as much as the pre-Flashpoint days. Plus all the "surprise!" plots as the writers change a pre-2011 character into somebody else (Cyborg Superman, Lois Lane, Lobo, Superboy, Impulse, etc.). So I don't care anymore about overall continuity, since the writers obviously don't. I don't care about "the rules" of the Green Lantern rings, power batteries, Guardians of the Universe, or even the Source Wall and the "emotional reservoir" anymore, since they are obviously just a creation to have a new 6-month plot line, like the stupid "willpower aliens from the lantern battery planet" plot that never should have happened.

I'm disappointed we didn't see the other covers. I'm hoping to see something other than Space Jesus Kyle....

The cover for Green Lantern looks really great, especially the 3D effect. I'll get myself a copy of that.

Ugh. About as likable as "concussion Guy" from the JLI.

                            That would be a surprise.
