The team of Robert Venditti(Demon Knights) and Billy Tan(Shadowland) will pick from where Geoff Johns and Doug Mahnke left off on the GL flagship title.

    Green Lantern Corps
Joshua Hale Fialkov(I,Vampire) and Bernard Chang(Demon Knights) are the new helmers on this comic.

Great news that Bob Venditti is writing. His work on X-O Manowar has been stellar! Good creative choices all around, to be honest. Let's hope the editorial interference dies down a little bit. I've got a feeling that Larfleeze series is going to suck, and I like the character a lot.

I wish they had better artists. Kolins has been inconsistent lately and Vitti is the only standout and he's stuck on RL.

They could've been a lot worse. Hopefully putting Kolins back on a monthly book will improve things, but it's going to be a comedy series, so I doubt it.

I'm not quite sure how a Larfleeze series could possibly work in the long term...

We're still saying the same about Red Lanterns.

Glad that the original Bleeding Cool report was right and that DC is investing in NEW talent. I'll give each f the main titles at least one arc to impress me and who knows maybe I'll even pick up Larfleeze.

I have absolutely zero connection with any of the writers and artists, which I kind of like. On initial knowledge, I definitely don't like the idea of a Larfleeze stand-alone. If anything, the GL books need to be dialed back, not expanded.

GEEK: How much of the previous Geoff Johns continuity will you be carrying through in the new book?

VENDITTI: Geoff introduced so many great high concepts, and we’ll definitely be building on that continuity. We’ll also be taking things in our own direction, though, examining those concepts and exploring what they mean for the universe as a whole. Talking with the editors and the rest of the Green Lantern team, we’ve laid out a stretch of story arcs I really can’t wait to get on the shelves.

GEEK: What is your unique "take" on Green Lantern?

VENDITTI: Green Lantern will continue to be Hal Jordan’s book, but he’s going to be facing challenges he hasn’t really faced before. Hal is a character unlike any other in all of comics, so it’s really just about tapping into the aspects that make him unique, then putting him up against conflicts that will highlight them—either through his success or his failure. There are a ton of status quo changes coming down the line, and new characters, too.
How does this sound to you guys?

Works for me. Like Venditti had any choice whether to follow Johns' continuity!

Someone help me out here: was it Fialkov who posted some really controversal blog entry or something a year or so ago? It escapes me, but I could've sworn he stirred up some shit a little while ago...

                      (EDIT: Never mind...I found it.)

I'm both happy and anxious about Larfleeze series. I like Larfleeze, but ... a whole series? Really? And he's one less adversary for GL, since he's shifting into protagonist mode.

And I notice Kyle's staying as a White Lantern. Guess that's one way to keep the count of Earth GLs at 4.

As for the creative teams ... I don't know any of them. *shruggs*

He kind of hit all the right notes when a new writer comes onto the book. As always, what matters is what ends up on the page.

A fifth lantern title starring Larfleeze?

                            I’m sold.

I'm not excited about these new teams at all. I'll have to read some X-O ManoWar to see if Venditti carries any appeal for me and I don't see how Fialkov's prior work translates to Green Lantern Corps. The art teams are incredibly underwhelming, especially the scritch-scratchy Billy Tan.

Doug Mahnke and Christian Alamy are nearly irreplaceable on the main GL title, but there are sharper artists than Tan whom DC would have chosen. Aaron Kuder had just come on board to make New Guardians better than it deserved to be; Brad Walker has never drawn anything I cared for. I don't know much at all about Bernard Chang.

I just feel DC is relegating the Green Lantern books to the back burner, in the wake of its parent company's poorly-performing movie. I'll give each a single issue to grab me.
