Well the one in Carmel has been around since the 20s and Alan popped up in the 40s. Realistically DC can't really copyright the term Green Lantern if they are referring to the physical object only if they try to copy or infringe on the character itself. Look at the Ironman competition, it's not like people assume that Tony Stark or Marvel for that matter are involved...

Ah didn't know that, well that makes sense. But I still wonder about the Shazam app though. Because unlike Green Lantern or Iron Man (which can mean other things); Shazam comes from Comic Books.

Unsure about the app, it's difficult to figure out why they called it that but it is from a UK based company and had been around since 2002 so if DC hasn't done anything yet they probably won't. Besides the character's actual name is Captain Marvel and Shazam is actually an acronym for Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles and Mercury in the books so there is that little snag as well
