  • The GUARDIANS' mistakes

Ok we all know the GUARDIANS are not perfect ,but how many mistakes have they made.

of course the creation of the manhunters and their destruction of sector 666.
But there are others as well, and since the current writer of gl wants to paint the guardians as being out of touch id like to make a list of their mistakes or oversights.

    Yo.

given the current rift on them, Id say any decision the Oans have made about universal stability using only logic..........like the Alphas, law #3, and so on.

Sinestro. Laria's dad. Probert's enemy (whose name I can't recall). Kicking Priest out. Neglecting OA and the Zamarons (pre-vol 4). Being a jerk to Hal in ET (they coulda shown some sympathy to the guy who just lost his whole life). Not rebuilding the Corps after the battery was destroyed in Vol 2 (they revealed they could have done so at any time in Vol 3). Leaving Arisia a mess during Vol 3. Taking away Old Timer's powers because Old Timer was, evidently, too weak to save both Hal and a river from being polluted. Leaving OT all alone on OA. Letting Jhon be posessed by the spirit of Sinestro. Doing nothing as Hal destroyed the CPB during ET ... or rather, just killing themselves while he did so. Ganthet sitting on his thumbs during the entirety of Vol 3 (really, what did he do with all his spare time?). Ganthet helping to create Gog (no longer canon; technically never happened anyways .... but still). Their creations of .... some race in the Vega system (fuzzy on those details).

That's everything I can think of off the top of my head of stuff pre-vol 4 (which you ought to know about).

The Guardians have made a lot of mistakes in the past, but Geoff Johns seems to write them as being down right assholes!

I tend to think he writes them like the Bush administration.

The Guardians being the out of touch beauracracy is part of the formula that makes the GL mythos work. I don't think that should ever be taken away. It was so bland when Ganthet was the one Oan show. THe book needs conflict, and a lot of that comes from the continued conflict between the Corps and the Guardians. They are the good guys that you love to hate!

well..considering they've been around for billions of years..it might be a long read if you list them all

Thinking the Guardian sacrifcing itself would kill superboy prime?

One big mistake: Thinking that imprisoning the Parallax entity -- or anything or anybody -- in the central power battery was a good idea.

                          Yo.

but it *was* a good idea......until somebody went into it, which I doubt they'd think would ever happen.

stop & consider: it more than likely had been in there for a VERY LONG TIME, b4 Hal showed up.

The guardians used to be written as all knowing fatherly figures who used their billions of years of experience to help the galaxy, they even once helped show superman that he was hindering people by giving them a fish instead of teaching them how to fish...so to speak. hiding that all life started on eath could be deemed another mistake.

Being emotionless.Really, what has it done for them? They fought making the souless Manhunters would help the universe, and they went rouge. They made no attempt to fix Sinestro's insecurities, allowing him to become the rouge he is.And worst of all

THEY BANNED THE GREEN LANTERNS FROM HAVING SEX!
