  • Does GL Need A 3rd Book?

I think it does and I think John should be the star of it.

Even if it was a 6 part special I think it would be very welcomed.

With all these new books comming because of BD with Mera and Co etc I dont see why GL cant get the rub of the green, since it created all the hype that is in DC right now.

They could release a mini 6 part story with John, I would buy it and Im sure most of you would.

What do you think? what would you have happen in a 3rd GL book? would you want it on going? or a mini? is there a market for a 3rd book?

I just dont think 2 books is enough for everything that is going on, along with 4 earth lanterns.

Considering the scope of Green Lantern right now in the public eye, the title deserves more than 3 comics a month. It deserves at least 5, 4 GL related (one Alan Scott) and one Other Corps related.

However, considering the writing of Green Lantern at the present time, and the fact of the tie-ins relating to Blackest Night coupled with the upcoming Brightest Day, the title already has it's hands spread too far into the DCU with unsatisfactory results.

Less is more sometimes, in the case of Green Lantern and Green Lantern Corps, this is profoundly true.

Wow 5 thats quite a bit, but it could have been done I guess, the Big3 already have enough fans and always will, makes no sense to use BN, BD on just those guys and tie-ins.

Yeah they could have introduced Alan with a book to new fans like me who know little about him.

But you're right its probably too late now GL story has spread into other characters that have nothing to do with GL really.

Yes, and get someone new on it, like Dan Jurgens.

Jurgens was the Jeff Johns of the 90's. He killed Superman, and kept writing that book for about 10 years.
He created Booster Gold, Doomsday, Cyborg Superman, as well as some other characters.
He must have a great work ethic; I can't remember when anything he's made was late, AND he does the art on his books also.
He created the Tangent universe, and came out with the "Superman's Reign" series, which was awesome.
Look him up, check out his resume. Seems people have forgot about him. Or never knew him.

He is one of the most underrated people in comics, and he could do a John-centric book monthly, or something similar.

If we were to get a third book, I'd want an expanded GLC series. With GLC written by Tomasi, which I love, it seems too tied into Guy and Kyle. Especially these days with the bromance storyline we've received.

For a third book, I'd like to see new, creative stories and character development with this team:

Writer: Tony Bedard (The Great Ten, R.E.B.E.L.S.)
Art: Ig Guara (Pet Avengers artist)

It would never happen, the Ig Guara part anyway, but that's my non-realistic dream team.

I think three ongoing would be too much. However, I would love to see a John, Kyle, Guy, and Alan Scott Secret Origin mini. Possibly a Green Lantern Corpse mini and a GLC Quarterly staring some of the minor GL's. Although with the back up stories that are going to appear in GLC now, maybe a quarterly would be redundent.

I'd much Rather Have 1 Good Story in the Back of Action Comics, than 8 Okay full books.

Does it need a 3rd book? Not at all. Could it use more space to tell more of a story? Definitely. But all franchises could use more space.

I agree with Caleb though, I would much rather them step their game up on the two they have now than get another book that's of average quality on an inconsistent basis.

Kyle should get a book with Wally and Connor. I don't know if you'd call that a GL book though.

I don't think DC could handle a third.

Does it NEED a third book? No.

Would I BUY a third book? Almost certainly, at least at first. If it REALLY stunk, and there were still two other books that I WAS enjoying, I'd probably drop a GL book for the first time in my life.

At one point, I was happily buying GL, GL:Mosaic, Guy Gardner, AND the GLCQ.

You know, there WAS a time when there was three Green Lantern Books.
                        Green Lantern
                        Green Lantern Corps
                        and
                        Power of Ion

                        Remember what happened to Ion?

Well, Ion SUCKED. Mainly because Ron Marz wrote it.

Of course, Kyle fans wanted Marz to write it...

I'd like to see John get his own book so we can have a reason to care about him. If you're constantly playing second fiddle to other characters, nobody is going to give a damn. Plus, he hasn't done anything significant in over a decade. The best thing that happened to John was being on the Justice League/Unlimited animated series for the exposure.

Post Brightest Day, I could envision the seeds of a love triangle between a resurrected Katma and Star Sapphire Fatality.
