  • Red Tornado Miniseries

Think you know Red Tornado? Think again.

This September marks the launch of RED TORNADO, from writer Kevin VanHook and artist Jose Luis, featuring a snazzy cover from superstar Ed Benes.

The mini-series, which will shed new light on the true origins of the stalwart JLA member/android will also introduce a crew of new characters to the DCU. And if Red Tornado has his way, you’ll also uncover the hero’s true android family. But will this reunion cost Red Tornado the love of his adopted, human family? You’ll have to pick up the first issue to find out. In the meantime, here’s a sneak peek at a character we like to call Red Volcano, designed by artist extraordinaire, J.G. Jones.

Finally. I was just wondering the other day whatever happened to the Red Volcano and the other earth and water elemental androids they hinted at in DCU #0 almost two years ago!

          Magog...Red Tornado...

not feeling either. Even as a mini series Red can't get me, and with a creative team that won't make me excited either? I have to wonder why this wasn't just another co-feature. Especially when it'll probably be $3.99 anyway. Make it a short term co-feature in JLA and then make Cry For Justice $2.99 and watch the sales double for both. All those who usually pick up JLA will continue to because they follow it to the grave, and all those fans of Red will latch on because they've been yearning for this for a while. Then all the people who were hesitant to get Robinson's Justice League will go out and buy it because of the standard price.

          *sigh* *points to sig....*

Yeah, I'm not feeling Magog either.

Who's the creative team on this? Do we know yet?

Huh, I may have to check this out. Anyone else remember the Red Tornado miniseries that Kurt Busiek and Carmine Infantino did in the 80s? Yeah, I'm old enought that I bought that on the racks, lol.

On Magog: Keith Giffen will pair with artists Howard Porter and John Dell

On Red Tornado: from writer Kevin VanHook and artist Jose Luis.

Thanks. I knew Magog, but not Reddy.

Yep. Don't care at all, and honestly, with my current financial status, I'm almost all about creative teams nowadays.

On Magog: I like Giffen, but a Magog ongoing? I don't see it lasting.

And Howard Porter? Can you say overrated? I think everyone just gets nostalgic because they remember Morrison's JLA. That was great, but the art could have been much better. Having said that, Porter was probably one of the better 90's artists, but that's not saying much.

Yup! I re-read that just last week, in fact.

I agree with you on the Magog ongoing. I don't see any way that lasts too terribly long. But, if you're keeping score at home - the new JLA book is a mini, yet Magog gets an ongoing. Good call DiDio.

You know, I don't care much for New Avengers, Mighty Avengers, and especially Dark Avengers, but at least Marvel treats its premiere team with respect. Poor, poor JLA. Hopefully it'll get great again soon.

Having said that, the new JLA mini looks horrible. I'm only going off of that preview, though.

Well if you don't like painted art and James Robinson dialogue then the book isn't for you. Fortunately, you're in the minority pal.
