Its not about being important to Batman. The argument is about limiting his appearances to contain a good and seemingly important storyline. We're supposed to be convinced that Tim would abandon all his family and friends immediately so he can prove to them and himself that Bruce Wayne is still alive. ABOVE ALL ELSE. A reunion with Conner is GREAT! I would rather it be before Dick decided to ditch Tim, and before Tim left the country. WAY BEFORE, because if we're supposed to believe that Dick Grayson has a direct line to someone who just told him to fuck off, then its not as believable. BN: Batman hurts Red Robin because it doesn't care what's happening. All Tomasi was told is that Tim was out of the country. "Come back Tim, we need you." Is all he cares about what happens. This isn't a Robin vs Robin discussion, its a continuity and storyline discussion that DC should have had with themselves before throwing him into tie-ins, ongoing titles and upcoming miniseries(World's Finest).

Then why isn't Blackest Night going on in all the books? Should all books be concerned with Blackest Night if its DCU wide? That said, whose to say RR isn't out of the country for a time, before BN, and then comes back? I don't recall a definitive timeline being set in the books. I'm three weeks behind in readings due to midterms, so unless something was defined within that time I do not think that should harm my argument. Until a timeline is set, all things CAN happen.

You're right, I'm just saying I like him better in this book. He's more introspective, brooding, and just badass. In the other books he's just good 'ol Tim. That's all I mean.

        Say cheese!

I agree. I just feel that a timeline is needed with all the books.

            • Great issue here. After hating her so much throughout the first 4 issues, Yost completely redeems Tam by giving her some hilarious and realistic lines. I'm hoping she sticks around and Tim can get a nice little love triangle with her and Pru(who survives).

We got a new plot point with the "Wanderer". The art is the same, nothing better nothing worse. Though with 4 previous issues I've grown used to it, it doesn't hinder the story but the story doesn't become as good as it could because of it. We don't get much development, mostly because there's a new artist coming on board and Yost already said he saved some action scenes for Marcus to draw in issue #6. But for the moment it seems like Tim's hunt for Bruce is on hold while he deals with the League and the Council.

As for the continuity discussion.. While Tim thinks he's dead in this issue he questions whether or not he'll see Conner. Which means, that this entire story arc and the events that this title has flashed back to have already taken place. Which means, that Adventure Comics #3(which was a very good read btw) and Blackest Night are after these first two storylines. How do we know Blackest Night takes place after "Council of Spiders" storyline? Well, let's track Tim shall we?

Issue #1 of Red Robin, he's in Madrid. He disrupts the kidnapping 4hrs after he left a country. Toledo,Spain is his fourth city in 7 days. He then hits Paris, 20mins in Paris and he's disrupting another crime and then comes to a SET realization that Bruce is Alive(while being watched by Pru,Owens and Z). In Blackest Night:Batman #1, Dick calls Tim who is apparently still in Paris and tells him to come to Gotham NOW, and we know he does..in a matter of minutes. lol HOWEVER, if we look in issue #2 of Red Robin, he's attacked by the league....(at NIGHT, mind you that if Gotham is in Eastern Standard time and its night during BN:Batman #1 when Dick calls Tim, and its night in Paris when he receives the call or rather night when he was 20mins into Paris, it would have to be AT LEAST 2:30am in Paris.)....24hrs after the attack by the League, Tim is already in Berlin. Now let's assume time is a bit condense since 24hrs from Paris to Berlin would make it night again, and its clearly breaking day when he's on the train. With just two issues we know that Tim has long since left Paris. Therefore, we can conclude that DC did a terrible job editing continuity. They did TRY by placing both BN: Batman and Adventure Comics Tim in Paris, but it just doesn't add up. Tim says he's in Paris for twenty minutes before the armed robbery crime.

If we tried realllllllllllly hard, we could place Adventure Comics #3 within those twenty minutes. We would just have to ignore a RED ROBIN ISSUE that clearly shows that Tim believes Conner is dead at that point.

If we tried even harder, we could fit Blackest Night(since it seems will be only one night), somewhere after is Tim talking to Conner and chasing an old motherbox in Paris in 10mins or less in Paris, Tim fighting the murderous bank robbers in Paris in 3mins or less, Tim fighting some League of Assassins members in 5mins or less(still in Paris), and then fighting someone else in Paris(per BN:Batman #1). BUT that would be all fine and dandy IF, we were to assume that the moment Blackest Night is over, Tim goes to Berlin like nothing ever happened.

hmm, interesting points regarding the continuity. Like Final Crisis, this one may be a bit tricky.

                      • Final Crisis had a reason for jagged timeline. Blackest Night..not so much. Just bad editing.

I don't have my books at school, thus I could not go back and re-read them to find out dates like West did.

I commend you on this. Looks intense. DC should definitely work on keeping everything in continuity, like Flash Rebirth...ugh.
