  • Superman at SDCC 09

    * The next Superman crossover event will be called “Codename Patriot”
    * General Lane will be the big heavy coordinating whatever is going on
    * Every character will be affected. Rucka said this series will be “a game-changer”.
    * Captain Atom will play a part in Codename Patriot. Is the title a clue to Atom’s role?
    * Look for "Hunt for Reactron" as a Supergirl/Action crossover in October. It will be written by Sterling Gates and Greg Rucka.

“That storyline forces a change with what Nightwing and Flamebird are doing,” he said of “Hunt for Reactron.” The pair will then return to Metropolis “and James and I are talking about the damage we’ll do to Metropolis–Again,” Rucka said, before remembering that readers had not yet seen the first damage. -CBR

    * Thanagarians aren’t going to be too happy the Kryptonians are back.
    * Superman #700 will be titled Mon-El: Man of Valor and will be a darker character with a new costume.
    * If you don’t like reading about Krypto, Geoff Johns laughingly told the audience to avoid Adventure Comics
    * Francis Manapul said Adventure Comics was like a Norman Rockwell comic.
    * The Adventure Comics co-feature JSA’s Starman, Lightning Lad, Polar Boy, and Sun Boy
    * Every Legion will be featured in Adventure Comics… eventually.
    * Starman has a new task that will play out in Adventure Comics, and not Blackest Night
    * As will Superboy Prime (in issues #4 and #5)
    * Origin stories will be the focus in the Supergirl Annual (origin of Superwoman), Superman Annual (history of Daxam), and in a Secret Files issue.

    • The only thing that excites me about this is the Kryptonians, and Thanagarians confrontation. I am a little upset that Superman 700 is renamed Mon-EL, but I can live with it

            • Damn, I didn't like it. At all. WTF was up with all the to be continued stuff? Jeezus, can I just read some damn superman comics? This time we didn't even get Mon-El! Idk how much longer I can get this book if its namesake isn't even in it.

              Say cheese!

              • I don't think its that bad. The book is certainly losing its luster as of late, but its not because Superman is absent. Its because other characters haven't been built up as well or as evenly as say Mon-El and Kara since Superman left Earth.

Still, I may drop this book during this upcoming crossover.

                • Yeah, it seems wierd "on paper" to drop the Superman book, but: He's not in it.
It started out interesting with the Mon-El stuff, but I was just being too much of a fanboy to admit that it really annoys me the the Superman book doesn't have him in it.

What's next, a GL book without a GL in it? Batman without him? This is bugging me.

Don't mind me, just a lil annoyed is all.

                  Say cheese!

                  • Batman isn't the star of Detective Comics for the first time in 40 something years. So its not the concept that bothers me, its just the stuff going on. Sure its weird but as long as they tell a good story in Superman or Action Comics then I'm fine with it.
