  • Ardian Syaf is the regular Birds of Prey artist

Starting in December, the Birds of Prey will get a new member – to their creative team, that is.

Hot off a stint on GREEN LANTERN CORPS and BRIGHTEST DAY, Ardian Syaf steps in as the regular artist on the series, joining forces with regular writer Gail Simone. And Syaf is stepping in just in time, as the series continues to kick things into high gear, with a new arc starting in December titled “The Death of Oracle.”

BIRDS OF PREY Editor Janelle Siegel was kind enough to show off a few pages of Ardian’s art, and it seems she’s as excited as we are about the new addition:

“I’ve been a fan of Ardian’s work for quite some time, so I jumped at the chance to have him on Birds of Prey. He’s a great fit for the book because he is an immensely talented artist with a gift for storytelling and action and he’s also great at drawing beautiful women! We couldn’t ask for a better combination than that for the kind of stories we’re telling in Birds of Prey right now.”

    Oh, and about that art…

I actually like the first few issues of Birds of Prey, it's the most recent issue I wasn't thrilled about.

                • OMG who is the artist on the Supes/Bat comic? I just read the latest issue, I havent read it in years but after seeing the recent movie, which is about where I stopped reading the comics, I decided to check out what was happening.

The art was delightfully bad, I literally burst out laughing at supermans face, awful, I cant believe someone got paid doing that.

                  Dont Suck.

                  • I haven't pick up a Superman/Batman issue in a long while either. Last issue I remember purchasing was where Batman was trying to rid the planet of all the kryptonite.

I just read this myself, and thought that everything looked funny about it. Superman looked silly, and cross-eyed in some frames, and Dick Greyson's Batman suit looked like Night Owl from watchmen. Other than that, I liked the issue.

                          No she's Batgirl. She's a excellent Batgirl.

                              • NICIEZA Guides BATMAN's ROAD HOME & Next RED ROBIN Chapter

Beginning October 6th, Bruce Wayne's homecoming takes over the Bat-universe during The Road Home, an eight-issue event that ushers in a new era of two Batmen in the DCU.

Writer Fabian Nicieza kicks off the event with Bruce Wayne - The Road Home: Batman & Robin #1, which is followed throughout October by a series of one-shots about Bruce's return. It all leads up to the end of Bruce's journey in Batman: The Return #1, by writer Grant Morrison and penciler David Finch.

Nicieza writes three of the one-shots, then continues in November as writer on Red Robin, the series that first pursued the idea that Bruce Wayne might return. And as clever readers of the title have guessed, December's Red Robin #17 may see the return of yet another Bat-character: former Batgirl Cassandra Cain.

Newsarama talked with Nicieza about the one-shots he's writing and what's coming next for Red Robin, including a Teen Titans crossover.
