You also have no idea how far my smile stretched when reading that we'll probably get a Damian Wayne mini with Andy Kubert art. I don't think he'll write it though, even with DC's current trend. I remember Grant saying that Andy really really likes drawing future Damian and I'd be pissed if Grant didn't get the chance to write an entire miniseries devoted to that storyline. Between #666, #700 and Superman/Batman #75, I am foaming at the mouth for more future Damian.
Didn't know what you were talking about. Now I do.
It was actually a good little tribute. Some were obviously a notch or two above the others...but still the best "anniversary" issue DC has put out this year, in terms of tribute.
Future stories suck. I'm mostly yearning for more Damian/Andy Kubert than whatever the story is about.
I'm pretty happy about most of this news. Batman Beyond going to an ongoing is great. I'm looking forward to the Damian mini too. And then we get more Morrison.
The Joker isn't going to be wild about this, but there will soon be not one, but two Batmen defending Gotham City.
After years toiling as Bruce Wayne's wingman in the comic-book series, Dick Grayson -- better known as Robin -- will now share top billing with the Dark Knight, DC Comics told The Post.
Grayson had already unofficially taken the reins as the Caped Crusader while Bruce Wayne was lost traveling through time (don't ask), but upon his return to Gotham City in October, Wayne decides that just one Batman isn't enough.
In fact, two might not be enough either, DC publisher Dan DiDio said.
"Bruce Wayne realizes that he can't just be the grim avenger he was before," DiDio said. "He wants to be more aggressive in his reach, and realizes the change that Batman as a symbol can effect around the world."
In the new title, "Batman Inc.," Wayne does what any billionaire would: build a Starbucks-style franchise of Dark Knights.
"Without giving too much away here, we wanted to show how Batman can have a global influence," he said.
Joining the two Batmen will be Bruce Wayne's troubled son, Damian, who had already taken on the role of Robin after his father disappeared.
"So aside from the new interaction between the two Batmen, there's the interesting relationship between Bruce Wayne and his son," DiDio said.
To avoid confusion between the two Batmen, Grayson's costume features just the black bat logo, whereas Wayne's will include the black bat over a yellow moon.
As for Grayson, the Boy Wonder is now all grown up, DiDio said.
"Grayson's role really is the protector of Gotham City," he said. "But we thought it only made sense for Bruce Wayne, a billionaire, to take a more global view."

Another surprise revelation hitting Batman in November
Or should I say Bat-men?
As THE NEW YORK POST broke this morning, not only will Bruce Wayne be returning to a new set of Batman duds, but his first sidekick, Dick Grayson, will continue to fight crime on the streets of Gotham as Batman, and under the banner of “Batman Inc.”
But what does that mean for the Batman titles moving forward?
We’ve got the breakdown for you here. Fear not.
Starting in November, DETECTIVE COMICS, BATMAN and BATMAN AND ROBIN will feature the ongoing adventures of Dick Grayson as Batman, with Damian as Robin. Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne will take center stage in the pages of Grant Morrison and Yanick Paquette’s BATMAN INC. and writer/artist David Finch’s BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT.
What does this mean for Bruce and Dick Grayson? Can the world handle two Batmen? We can’t give everything away here, but we did manage to corner Batman Group Editor Mike Marts for a quick tease, and a look at an amazing spread from the first issue of BATMAN INC. Take it away, Mike:
“Just as readers were getting comfortable with the idea of former sidekick Dick Grayson playing the role of Batman, along comes Bruce Wayne’s triumphant return to the Cape and Cowl. Is Gotham City ready for two Batmen? Is the world? And who’s to say the fun will end there?”
Bat-men? What an incredibly awful idea. I think the idea of a "Bat-Family" is ok, but why in the blue blazes would they think having two characters being the same super hero be a good idea? Why not just return Grayson to his rightful place as Nightwing?
Just look at Green Lantern and how having multiple Green Lanterns generally dilutes characters, or forces multiple books to be written to sustain well told story lines. Ugh.

Its a STORY. Read the story and you'll know why Dick doesn't just jump back into his former role. There is NO reason to complain. Its still Dick Grayson. Its still Bruce Wayne. If you're reading for the mantle name and not the character then go read Batman: Confidential. Tony Daniel and David Finch writing/drawing Batman and Dark Knight pretty much cater to that. You can't "dilute" a character. These characters aren't based on note themes like the colored lanterns so the comparison is pretty fucking silly. If you would rather see Dick Grayson in another costume, then say that. But to say being Nightwing is his 'rightful place' is just as stupid as saying Robin was his rightful place. Characters grow, stories develop. Sit back and enjoy. Its still the same character...its been a year, you should see that by now.
I'm sure I like the idea of two characters who have the name "Batman" running around. I was against two Captain America's and I shall be against two Batmen.

Oh no, there's still plenty reason to complain.
If Connor Kent ever shares the mantle as Superman along with Clark, I'll be there at the fences picketing the idea as well.
The idea of it is just so fucking ridiculous. I don't need to see the story unfold, just as I didn't need to see The Return of Bruce Wayne unfold to see how ridiculous it was going to be. I ended up reading it anyway (up to issue #4), and most of my reservations about the idea were founded.
On the flip side, I was completely wrong about how silly and arbitrary bringing Batwoman back into the fold would be. So, if I'm wrong about this idea being stupid then I'll be the first to admit it.
It's called reading the writing on the wall. As always, I reserve my right to be wrong. I just don't think I'll have to exercise it.
The keyword of both of the posts I've made regarding the issue: IDEA

Its ridiculous to argue this in the first fucking place. What are you complaining about? Conner Kent, Dick Grayson, Clark Kent, and Bruce Wayne are 4 completely different characters. What the fuck is in a name? Seriously, you sound like the disgusting obese kids that complain just because no one else has. Its a fucking name!
And can you please shut up about the "ridiculousness" of Return? You don't have a problem with reading about a test tube superhero, a circus kid living with a billionaire bachelor during the day and fighting crime during the night, a business man obsessed with killing a global icon at the risk of the world, a man with half his face covered in acid walking the streets with a coin and a gun, another billionaire running around the streets in a custom made robin hood costume, a ring that can do anything you put your mind to, and a man who can vibrate his molecules to move through objects...but you have a problem with time travel...fuck outta here. Its fucking superhero comics. What have you been reading for like 2months or something? Have you never a DC Comics storyline before? Its not ridiculous. Not even for Batman. Its TYPICAL. Its USUAL. Its the motherfucking NORM. Its easy to say "Oh that's stupid." but it would be a delight...scratch that, it would be the fucking highlight of my fucking life if someone would actually backup those kind of statements with a reason. I don't expect you to type an essay on why you dislike the premise of something. But when take things out of context and call them stupid or ridiculous, and don't bother to state why, you end up looking ridiculously stupid.
Come this October, Bruce Wayne walks the road home back to Gotham City and the present day after a well documented trip through time. But before DC Comics' Dark Knight can walk that path, someone needed to lay down the bricks. Enter writer Fabian Nicieza, a man extremely familiar with putting together and participating in major comic book events.
"Bruce Wayne - The Road Home" consists of eight self-contained, but interconnected one-shots written by various creative teams and each highlighting a major player in Batman's life and their reaction to his return to the modern day DC Universe. Well known in the comic community for his involvement in countless Marvel Comics events throughout the '90s, Nicieza not only wrote three of "The Road Home" issues, but also handled the herculean task of mapping out and laying the groundwork of the October event - all in conjunction with his current stint authoring the ongoing series "Red Robin."
Despite his workload, Nicieza donned his figurative cape and cowl and quickly responded to CBR's ongoing weekly feature THE BAT SIGNAL. Below, the writer talks about his building plans for "The Road Home," giving the details on Vicki Vale's quest to unmask the Caped Crusader, what the future holds for the entire Bat-family and where exactly reporters rank on the ladder of evil.
I think it's a bad idea as well cos with 2 Batmen kicking about, it might have the opposite effect of what the news reports say, and give villans hope, cos with 2 Batmen the whacko's might pay a little more notice to the 'man' part of the title.
I LOVE conspiracy theorists. They are like human versions of the cymbal clapping, dancing monkeys. No one takes them all that seriously and they get bored with them after about 10 minutes.
