Other activities such as soliciting sex and such. It would seem that in my part of the world spending money on something most get for free is grounds for any and everyone to give you more than enough harrasment to last a lifetime. Reading a comic with a gay character? Not so much. And I fail to see why reading a comic with a character that is gay is silly or awkward, does your brother think that homosexuality is somehow transferred by reading the book? Or are you afraid his logic is right and that by him saying it out loud you will somehow find yourself looking through the male seeking male section of craigslist?

I dunno why you even bother TGL. That kind of stupidity is not even worth acknowledging.I LOVE conspiracy theorists. They are like human versions of the cymbal clapping, dancing monkeys. No one takes them all that seriously and they get bored with them after about 10 minutes.

I am not at all pleased with the decision to turn Alan Scott into a homosexual. I honestly think the entire story will probably be as poorly written as Cry for Justice was (another bad James Robinson story).

Originally posted by JohnnyV View PostTrue, but they could always show up. There are plenty of gay men who have helped birth biological children. Some people's sexuality isn't defined until much later in life. For some, their sexuality is always in flux and are just attracted to who they're attracted to. We shall see.

But given the amount of female generated yaoi fan-fic and art in the US, I can see DC honestly trying to draw that crowd in. And the Dialogue on those preview pages prove it. It reads just like every yaoi i have ever seen.
considering how small a niche of female fandom that faction likely is, I dont think thats too likely........
Originally posted by JohnnyV View PostI honestly don't see why it should be so hard to tell a story about a character being gay. Rucka integrated the aspects of Batwoman's sexuality perfectly into Elegy. The story was interesting, her sexuality didn't dwarf other aspects of the narrative, and the dialogue was natural and flowing.
Now, it's hard to do all of that as well as Rucka did...but this is beyond horrible. Preview pages should make me excited to read a story, not make me roll my eyes at some of the most terrible dialogue I've seen in the reboot.
cuz I dont see where that would make any diff, atleast not enuff beyond being able to tell certain stories from the gay perspective, but even that sounds like it would be limiting after awhile........

You watch My Little Pony.
OH NOES, HOW WILL TMW3 SURVIVE THIS TRAGEDY?!??

Was there this much of a lead up to Batwoman? No.
There should be as much LOOKIE LOOKIE OVER HERE! For a queer character as there is for a straight one.

DC should be ashamed of themselves for doing this. It's embarrassing in its attempt for good press. And I've lost hope that Robinson can recapture the talent he used to showcase on titles like Starman and The Golden Age. He's become the M Night Shamalan of comics.

Well, I didn't personally care. To be honest, I don't care about a superhero's sexuality. A good story is a good story, whether it's about a straight heterosexual white man or a gay, tranny, native-american. Rucka did do a masterful job of making Batwoman's sexuality a prominent theme of the book, while not making it more than it needed to be. One of the big storylines, in dealing with her origin was deeply rooted in her being a lesbian. But again, it was well told.
Now, if they only wrote stories about her being a lesbian then it would be limiting. But if you write superhero books, only with the intent to tell stories about their sex life it's going to be limiting no matter the orientation.

^^Because people don't want their favorite male characters being Cock Jockeys plain and simple. I guarantee no one would be causing this much uproar if it was female iconic hero. No one wants Wonderman and Powerman but I bet if this was WW there would be at least 7 New Wonder Woman/Power Girl slash fanfic out within five minutes. People can deny it all they want but there has and will always be little to no uproar or even commenting if this was a woman.I LOVE conspiracy theorists. But people had to of seen this coming, the whole point of the new 52 was pseudo-start over, and establish new elements to characters. So why are people so mad about this one? People have come out 10x more upset about this than the changes which were made to Wonder Woman, and her story was completely flipped on its head compared to where she came before.
I can't speak for everyone, but I was never the biggest fan of Wonder Woman and could honestly care less about what changes they made to her backstory. So she got a Dad? Okay, big deal. Alan Scott had two children and a whole history of being a straight superhero. Now, not only did they just completely shred that backstory, but they took out two characters that I liked and enjoyed reading about.
Besides, if I thought for a second that this was motivated purely for a need to diversify the roster and not a play for good press and $$$, you wouldn't hear a thing from me. But that isn't the case here, and so, here we are... we have an established character fundamentally altered for the sake of a few press releases and maybe some more money thrown at the comic he's starring in.
So yeah, I stand by the idea that Marvel and DC are racing to see who can exploit homosexuality first, and contrary to what Marvel is doing, this move on DC's part has just gone and pissed me off.
